Gas prices in Atlanta area: $4 to $6 per gallon in last hour. Not kidding.
WSB Radio 750 Atlanta | 8/31/2005 | myself

Posted on 08/31/2005 3:30:39 PM PDT by Sender

I just paid $4.09 per gallon to fill up with regular. An hour ago the same station was at $3.09. I have verification from WSB Radio 750 Atlanta that local stations are charging from $4 to $6 per gallon, while Atlanta motorists are queued up for blocks to get some. Rumors are that the gas supply in Atlanta will run out before the weekend.

This is probably unfounded price gouging and panic buying, but millions of Atlantans are seeing this right now.

Irrational price spikes are part of a supply shock. It will settle back as soon as hoarding behavior subsides.

If I were one of the millions of Atlantans, I'd be driving home, parking the car, and looking up mass transit on the internet. At least until gas prices dropped again.

Shell said its Mars platform, which can pump 15 percent of the U.S. Gulf's crude oil, was damaged by Katrina on Aug. 29
At least seven oil drilling rigs were adrift in the Gulf of Mexico yesterday and two companies said they couldn't find their rigs and platforms after Katrina plowed through the area.
``Almost all the refiners are now putting marketers on allocation east of the Rocky Mountains,'' said Dan Gilligan, president of the Petroleum Marketers Association of America. ``Some terminals in Ohio, Tennessee, Arkansas and South Carolina are completely out of product. It's just a very precarious situation we're in.''

I keep hearing that they only make a penny a gallon, but now they are making over a dollar a gallon. I filled up just to be sure...I can't afford to be without a vehicle.

So? What are you worried about? That they'll all turn into rabid environmentalists? LOL.

I saw one lady on the local news today who said "That's it. I'm going to sell my car and ride my bike from now on." And she was series. Probably a liberal.

Michael savage is now calling for price controls on gasoline. I guess he's off his meds today.

They said on the news (FOX) that it's priced to not sell . So by raising the price it discourages people from buying it. I think I would fill up if I was there.
