Ouch!
Is there a possibility for a referendum to stop the out of control government?
Lock and Load time. Happy hunting New Londoners.
Unlike the looters in New Orleans these people really ARE being oppressed by the system.
Let's not get carried away.
2nd amendment dude
Specifically naming each member of the board in the suit and then file in civil court for them to maintain the land causing emotional distress and damage.
Prior to the USSC's decision on this matter I'd expect the courts to throw out any such case. Now I'm not holding my breath.
Are these looters any better than the looters taking advantage of Katrina? I say they are worse, they premeditate and conspire to loot.
What I would do in this situation, I better not disclose at this time.
"As through this world I've traveled
I've met lots of funny men.
Some will rob you with a six-gun,
Some with a fountain pen."
Was Sandra Day O'Connor in the majority on Kelo? If so, the people who lost on that case should file a request for rehearing as soon as Roberts is confirmed, and have that be the first case reversed by the newly constituted court. It would be a good example of what happens when out of control judges are replaced by real judges. I could just see Justice Roberts writing some sarcastic and witty opinion about how "public use" doesn't mean "private use".
Why the Ef not? Those people are getting It rammed up high, and broken off short by a legal system that is corrupt beyond any hope of repair. I do not see the Federal Attorney General hauling the members of the city government before a Grand Jury, for corruption on a Biblical scale, but I do see the Majesty of the Law stealing property and bankrupting people just because the Law can be bought.
They should charge the city for tending the properties. (i.e. mowing the grass, trimming the hedges, etc.) I would be billing the city for everything I could think of.
If I go to a city park, do I have to pay rent?
Did they sign a renters agreement with their supposed landlord (the city)?
I would burn down my home, sell the dirt of the entire lot to a depth of 30ft and then fill the lot trench with toxic waste.
"So they have to pay property taxes AND back rent for those five years?"
---
Why was the city collecting property taxes on property these people did not 'own'? Wouldn't the payment of property taxes (and the city accepting payment) show that the city believed the people still retained ownership?
This is London; but, interesting to note.
"I would burn down my home, sell the dirt of the entire lot to a depth of 30ft and then fill the lot trench with toxic waste."
I would hide 5 small bottles of mercury, tell them I hid 8, then watch them go nuts trying to find the other 3 before they could demolish the house.
