>Denuded of state sponsorship, the theological foundations of religious-Zionist doctrine have been undermined ... Instead of repressing their enthusiasm, [!] it can be beneficially channeled

Secular people
constantly project their own
trivial nature

onto passionate,
religious people. They think
faith can just be used

the way secular
desires and interests can be
manipulated

by politics and
the social equivalents
of advertising.

But religious faith
won't be manipulated
For better and worse.

Yeah. People should just be pawns for the "betterment" of the State.

Pawns to be thrown out of their homes. Pawns to be directed where to go and what to do.

Such an idea would fit nicely with an authoritarian State. It has no place in a Democracy.

Why push the Negev before the much more fertile and also demographically needy Galil? Why give them the worst of the farmland when the best also needs Jewish development?

The writer is a professor of Jewish philosophy at Shandong University, China. He has written books on messianism

What a freaking arrogant little putz. Why doesn't he move to the Negev?
