I am having a hard time imagining how so many could have died.

Ah, the answer in the second paragraph. Another religious pilgrimage. These people need work.

Latest number of dead is 841.
What a tragedy.

Still waiting for the straw that breaks the Camels back. Sooner or later Iraqi's will say enough is enough and kill these foreign fighters committing Jihad on their land.

ABC's Nightly News cast is reporting a staggering 850 people dead and over 800 injured. This is beyond comprehension and back to back with the fear thousands lost in hurricane Katrina.
Ambulances drive among the pilgrims along the bridge over the Tigris river in Baghdad, Wednesday, August 31st, 2005. A railing collapsed Wednesday on a bridge packed with Shiite worshippers marching in a religious procession, sending crowds tumbling into the Tigris River. Another Iraqi 'bridge', another time in horror - Americans murdered by barbaric animals
