With regards to the earlier post; re: 10 per cent of US refining capacity had to be shut down. I have never understood why this should be so big a deal. I buy gas about once a week and it usually takes me 12 gallons or so to fill the tank of my Scion Xb. All that 10% cut should mean to me is that I buy only 10 gallons next time
Here is a link to the US refining capacity. It has been running over 90% since the early 1990s. IT is not just the crude supply that affects gasoline prices. The cost is much more affected by our local refining capacity. There hasn't been a new refinery built in over 15 years. We import crude oil, but don't import much gasonline because of the different laws affecting its grade, polution specs, etc. That's why every little fire in a refinery in Houston causes the price to go up... http://www.eia.doe.gov/pub/oil_gas/petroleum/analysis_publications/oil_market_basics/Ref_image_Crude_runs.htm
The problem with the Mayor of New Orleans is that he is a Democrat vermin!!! No Democrat can take real adversity. The Louisana Governor is a lightweight and also is no leader in times of need. The Democrat "Traitor" Party has not had a real leader of American substance since JFK, HST and FDR passed from the scene. The whole party and everyone in it has morphed into low life like Cindy Sheehan and her "hippie" ilk. New Orleans will be saved, not by these incompetents, but by the courageous, brave, determined and optimistic people of Louisiana and our great President GW Bush!!!
send in Rudy.
