Immigration Benefits and Terrorism Moving Beyond the 9/11 Staff report on Terrorist Travel
Center for Immigration Studies ^ | Janice L. Kephart

Posted on 08/29/2005 6:46:09 PM PDT by Rosemont

The report highlights the danger of our lax immigration system, not just in terms of who is allowed in, but also how terrorists, once in the country, used weaknesses in the system to remain here. The report makes clear that strict enforcement of immigration law – at American consulates overseas, at ports of entry, and within the United States – must be an integral part of our efforts to prevent future attacks on U.S. soil.

Of the 94 foreign-born terrorists who operated in the United States, the study found that about two-thirds (59) committed immigration fraud prior to or in conjunction with taking part in terrorist activity.

Of the 59 terrorists who violated the law, many committed multiple immigration violations – 79 instances in all.

Temporary visas were a common means of entering; 18 terrorists had student visas and another four had applications approved to study in the United States. At least 17 terrorists used a visitor visa—either tourist (B2) or business (B1).

There were 11 instances of passport fraud and 10 instances of visa fraud; in total 34 individuals were charged with making false statements to an immigration official.

In at least 13 instances, terrorists overstayed their temporary visas.

In 17 instances, terrorists claimed to lack proper travel documents and applied for asylum, often at a port of entry.

Fraud was used not only to gain entry into the United States, but also to remain, or “embed, “ in the country.

Seven terrorists were indicted for acquiring or using various forms of fake identification, including driver’s licenses, birth certificates, Social Security cards, and immigration arrival records.

Once in the United States, 23 terrorists became legal permanent residents, often by marrying an American. There were at least nine sham marriages.

In total, 21 foreign terrorists became naturalized U.S. citizens.

Not a single one jumped across the Mexican border.

We see a lot of people on FR pretending to be concerned about terrorists entering the US, but they never mention anything except the Mexican border.

What they are really concerned about is migrant workers.

Exactly. Just pretending. You're WAY too clever for us, swampy. In fact, we'd LOVE to have a terrorist attack on American soil, and we'd say so if only we weren't so busy being all horsed off about some guy pushing a taco cart down the street.

So is is time to repost your classic anti-Hispanic, anti-Nigerian, anti-half-a-dozen-other-types post yet?

They have bagged a number of jihadists and have found Al Qaida literature. Are you a jihadist, or do you merely serve as their fluffboy?

Yeah, only Mexican illegals jump across that border, kinda like Mexican jumping beans, right? LOL

We see a lot of people on FR pretending to be concerned about terrorists entering the US, but they never mention anything except the Mexican border.

Gee, I wasn't going to mention it, but since you already did, I guess it's now open season, right? :o)

What they are really concerned about is migrant workers.

Yeah, that's the ticket. We are concerned about people working in the fields, picking lettuce and strawberries, and other food. Of course you do realize that because they are illegals, they are not tested for TB, which, btw, is extremely contagious, and could kill thousands of people. American workers are required by law to be tested for TB if they work in the food industry, but illegals are not tested.

The ones that work in restaurants are especially dangerous, but of course, you are in denial about that too aren't you? Do you know much about TB? It's a real nasty disease, and kills between one to two million people a year. Over 1/3 of the world has TB. It breeds in poverty and is easily passed on. Especially in those houses that illegals crowd into with such close quarters. They are like a walking time bomb, and could kill more Americans than a terrorist could.

An outbreak of tuberculosis or some other deadly disease would be bad enough. Imagine how much worse it will be in major cities with multiple hospital closures! I believe this will BE the actual "terrorist attack" even more so than another plane flying into a building or whatnot. It would have just as devastating an effect, and unlike a plane, there's no possible way to trace it back to the perpetrator...and even if you do, that person will long be dead as well, so oh well.

No matter, though - swampy will be here in the morning to do more copy-and-paste about what racists everyone is for even THINKING such thoughts (even though he "doesn't call other FReepers racist" as you well know). Anyone who thinks their gated communities will save them from the perils of a deadly communicabledisease conveniently forgets that there's no escape from AIRBORNE diseases. Even harder when your gardener and babysitter and maid are the ones bringing it to your town.

...except for the fact that I'm only referring to one specific person and his own words, not painting a large segment of this community with some vague broad brush based on some perceived notion of what I assume they think. So sorry pal, your analogy doesn't quite work, but hey, nice try, and thanks for thinking about me. All kidding aside, it's very flattering. Have a great week!

What they are really concerned about is migrant workers.

Actually what they are really concerned about is illegal alien lawbreakers (millions and millions and millions of them).

"They have bagged a number of jihadists"

Do you have a legitimate source showing that jihadists have been caught trying to jump the Southern border?

It has been shown in evidence many times. Check the Border Patrol recors, as I will not write a huge tome here. Why are you against dsecuring America';s borders, and yes, I also mean the border with Al Qanada!

"It has been shown in evidence many times. "

I've been following the Southern border issue very closely for a couple years and I've never seen any evidence of terrorists being caught jumping the border.

Your statement is something that one would see on certain less reputable sites. It's also the way false myths get started.

Your inability to document your claim ought to tell you it isn't true.

It's all been show.. I think you do not care for the security of the United States. Where are you from, Voz de Azatlan, por are you allied with the jihadists. Maybe both..

"...I've never seen any evidence of terrorists being caught jumping the border."

Do you consider MS-13 migrants or terrorists?

And BTW have you ever used the word illegl?

Apparently, not that closely:

I don't know how day laborers would be treated under a guest worker program
