I'm just keeping a few Airmen up to date! Mainly calling in the middle of the night to my daughter saying "get to your saferoom NOW!" and such...

She then phones the rest of her folks.

Eglin does a great job of keeping track of their people. Her Sargeant called right after I did to give the same warning. My daughter (Airman) and her husband (Senior Airman) spent the next half hour hiding in the bathtub. I'm just glad I have the info available. And they appreciate you all, too. You'd be amazed at how many of our guys and gals at Eglin lurk here at Free Republic!! Not to mention a few brass :)

In the next few hours, we may become one of the few sources of information for some in the area. After hurricane Hugo, phones were the only thing that worked. TV was completely out and the only radio left was one small AM station. One station 100 miles away was allowed to boost power just so we would have access to some information. Both stations carried a heavy load and were highly appreciated, relaying what little information they could in the first days.

Now for a request to all. Let's watch posting rumors and loosely based information here. It appears that bad news could be plenty. Even some official information later turns out to be pure malarkey. View all info with the question "who does this help if I post it?". Remember some people come here hungry for real information. Let's feed them well. Also remember that one of our trademarks here is accuracy.
