WSB-TV here just showed a report from New Orleans, then ran an ad for ABC's new series Invasion ("In the aftermath of a hurricane..." with fallen trees, lots of debris and a body or three).

Shep Smith looks as worried as I've ever seen anyone on TV news. Anchor said words to the effect, "We hope this tragedy doesn't unfold..." Shep interrupts, "You think YOU hope!" Talking about taking shelter in the center staircase of the hotel--I can't even imagine.

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Lee: expects 3-5 ft of flooding; large % of his people have left; curfew at dark; all stores closed; if you're out driving will be challenged and arrested; deputys will have to come in fairly soon;911 people all left and 911 shut down because building too weak;east side of Harvey canal will be flooded; will be using high-wheel army surplus vehicles;this will be worst storm;fortunately able to predict and most people have left town.
