Debunking Three Years of Media Lies: Part I [MUST READ!!!!]

....Those pictures are accurate – circa 2002. The so-called “gulag,” as Illinois Senator Dick Durban has referred to Gitmo, was in operation for just four months, from January to April of 2002. At that time we were still trying to figure out what to do with these terrorists.

Today Camp X-Ray, as the infamous section of Gitmo has been called, is abandoned and overgrown. So why are so many news outlets showing us photos that are more than three years old, when newer, accurate photos are available?

Well, for one it makes for more interesting photos, but the truth is inevitability lost in the shuffle. This type of deception harms the U.S. cause in ways that may never be undone.

Is a picture worth a thousand words? Then let these before-and-after shots of Camp X-Ray speak loudly.

....Is the current media deception as bad as Walter Cronkite’s lies about Vietnam and the Tet Offensive? I’d submit it is. The only thing offensive about Tet was the way it was reported at home. After a brief surprise attack, we gained ground and won every battle.

I knew there were lots of media and "human rights" movement lies being circulated about Gitmo, but I confess I did not quite realize just how bad the misrepresentations are. This author says that much of what is said about Gitmo, and nearly all of the published photos, are only from the FIRST FOUR MONTHS of "Camp X-Ray" (which was abandoned once more permanent facilities were built). In other words, a big part of the lies and distortions of the "human rights mafia" has been to take conditions of the temporary camp in those first 4 months and base all the outraged Gitmo stories around that..... I think the terrorists were treated much too well even then, but it seems that they are doing much better ever since. SEE THE AUTHOR'S PHOTOS on his website for more details:

It's depressing that so many still don't realize that the war on worldwide terrorism is being fought poorly here at home...in the media and with concerted and determined efforts of our Democrat elected officials.
At this point half of all Americans don't have a clue as to what we are doing in Iraq, how it fits and connects to our global strategy, who the rest of our enemies really are and host of related factors.Most of that half sincerely believe that our President is a mad man.
Will the decent intentions of a talk radio announcer make any kind of impression to alter any of this? Bless him for trying. No one else seems to be working on this.

What is just as worrisome as this article is the "doom and gloom" we are getting about the President's standing. Use the following to let George Bush know we are standing behind him; we don’t want him to leave Iraq before the job is done and we don’t think Cindy Sheehan deserves a minute more of his time. Thank him for the hard work he is doing. Ask him to close our borders until the INS get their act together…which it has not.

There is an interesting post in POwerLine about how the war is being reported. Just the casualties,no context, no strategies.

Remember last November, the battle of Fallujah. Apparently, there were significant breakthroughs in urban fighting. The Marines did incredible. Now what did we get from Fallujah,just the image of that Marine shooting that poor, unarmed insurgent.

My mounting frustration with the Bush administration, why are they letting the media get away with it. Why not have a high level admin official give a weekly briefing giving context, strategy.

They have left the fifth column to report on the war, no wonder the American people are turning against it.

Thank you much for the encouragement.
Us onliners tend to fell more or less alone even though we are in touch in spirit. I sort of let my guard down in exasperation at the percieved imbalance in fair and honest accounting of what is truly going on in this fullout war that so many of our compatriots seem to have no idea about.
Reading through my comments over the recent past I realized that own comments reflect anger rather than honest attempts at seeking better understanding, Maybe that arises from fear.
I will double my efforts to promote understanding from this point in the journey.

A lot of people who are supporters of the President and supporters of the war are starting to give him some advice, given out of kindness and support on how to communicate. We need to hang in there. In 2 months things could be so much better, but the President can't leave the playing field to his enemies again (I mean the domestic enemies and the media). Constant communication...tell us the good, the not so good, provide context. And don't be afraid to pick a fight with the media. The American people are secretly hoping for it. They are fed up and if he leads he'll be pleasantly surprised.
