Pat Robertson was acting in his capacity as a television commentator...
of a
religious show on a
religious network.
I still see absolutely no difference between Robertson and his comments and an inman's with his. Both use religion for their own perverted disgusting ends of violence and death.

Have you ever watched the 700 Club?
Have you ever seen Pat Robertson preach?

I still see absolutely no difference between Robertson and his comments and an inman's with his. The difference is that one is offered as an opinion whereas the other is issued as an edict, or marching orders. Is that too nuanced for you to grasp?

The thing is ? Robertson was talking about the US ability with covert operations to do that, and Robertson was not invoking the name of the God of Israel to do this, he was just talking about the US's capacity to do this.
Basically, he probably was saying out loud what our leaders in Washington were already thinking, and reflection what most Americans are thinking about Chavez , but won't admit it.
If anything, lose lips sink ships, and if the US had any plans to deal with Chavez, now, after since Robertson said those comment, now, the Pentagon or the C.I.A either will have to abandon any plans to deal with Chavez, or come up with new plans to deal with him later.

Otherwise, drop the childish equivalency routine.

(The plan was simple, like my brother-in-law Phil. But unlike Phil, this plan just might work.)

Not saying you're a liberal--but you seem to be co-opting their "one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist" gobbledygoop with your argument---steadfastly refusing to make any moral distinctions...
