I believe you and Happy are on the same page, on a fence, as am I. However, I would rather see a 15 to 20 ft precast concrete wall, like the type we have on the sides of freeways. A chain link fence can be cut open in a matter of minutes with a bolt cutter.

I actually did some checking on this a couple of years ago. It would be easy to cast the panels in the vicinity of the Mexican border and use the same kinds of cranes that set them into place as when they are used as freeway sound barriers.
Columns with vertical slots are stood upright. The panels are simply lowered down into these slots and stacked, one on top of another, as high as the columns stand.
It's a very rapid process to build such walls.
I talked to a contractor installing these beside a freeway. He said they could easily build such a wall 2,000 miles long, if necessary. They even follow the natural land contour as they proceed in building the wall.
