My husband was in Vietnam with the 1st Cav in 68-69, I think,,,

he doesn't really talk about it much..he was in Germany after that for a year...I hear more about Germany!

Very common actually, even for WW-II vets. My mom was flabbergasted when my Uncle told me a few of his "Sea Stories". He was on a seagoing tug in the Pacific. and helped clean up the mess after a couple of the big battles (Philippine Sea and Okinawa I think) and one big ass hurricane.

I think that the fact I was a Captain in the USAF Reserve at the time helped somewhat. I'll bet he also talked with two of his 3 sons. One was an artilleryman in Vietnam, probably around 70 or 71. The other was a Navy machinist mate starting a year or so before his brother.
