Valley Illegals Fear Crackdown Is Coming
KLASTV ^ | August 20, 2005 | Brian Allen

Posted on 08/20/2005 7:10:30 AM PDT by Reaganwuzthebest

Arizona and New Mexico are under a state of emergency Friday night. The governors of both states made the declaration to free up money to increase Mexican border patrols. It is an effort to fight illegal immigration.

Illegal immigrants in Nevada say it's only a matter of time before a similar state of emergency is issued here. They fear being thrown out of the country, unable to make money from jobs they find here in the states.

Illegal immigrants in southern Nevada believe it's only a matter of time until authorities here crack down on them. Here in the valley, day jobs for illegals are starting to dry up. There's time when there's work and there's time when there's not.

The states of emergency in New Mexico and Arizona may have a dramatic effect on the influx of illegals into Nevada. Many cross the Mexican border into Arizona and then travel, or are smuggled up Highway 93 into Las Vegas and beyond. Nearly all are looking for opportunities to make money. "We only want to work we don't do anything wrong. If they hire us fine if they don't they don't."

This 2003 federal homeland security report guess-timates over 101,000 illegal immigrants live in Nevada. A UNLV study asserts illegals contribute 16 billion a year to our local economy.

"It's quite evident we have to focus our efforts, our priorities, our resources on the greatest risks." Russ Knocke with federal homeland security tells Eyewitness News, the current approach of trying to dismantle human smuggling rings is the way to go hoping to stop potential terrorists from entering the country.

But Arizona and New Mexico declaring these emergencies may force the government's hand to once again target illegal alien clusters in large American cities, like Las Vegas. "We intend to work as closely as we can based on the needs of the states."

The increasing risk and the increasing debate has some illegals thinking twice about having come here in the first place. "We wait here for awhile. If we don't find work we go back to Mexico." But until a crackdown begins, these men will continue looking for work, day-by-day, dollar-by-dollar.

A spokeswoman for Governor Kenny Guinn says there are no current plans to issue a State of Emergency for illegal immigration here. Eyewitness News has learned that next week the federal Department of Homeland Security will meet in Washington to discuss illegal immigration measures along the Mexican border.

Not only throw them out, but take their money away and send them broke back from whence they came.. That will put money in the government treasury..

The statistic you use to "prove" I lied did not even mention "illegals", it only addressed "immigrants". Furthermore there was no link to a source. If that's your idea of "proof" I can understand why you accept the immigration myths without question.

No, it does prove you lied. You said that illegals never recieved welfare. That stat entailed illegals. The sources are cited, dont play dumb

You also said they were ineligible but I proved that wrong too:

Some think that illegal aliens cannot receive welfare benefits, but they can, as a result of a provision known as PRUCOL (Permanently Residing Under the Color of Law). PRUCOL means a status that has the appearance of, but not the status of, a legal right. That is not a status created by legislation, but a status created by the courts, which cannot Constitutionally make law.

1.United States Census Bureau, 2002 Census Report

2.Federation for American Immigration Reform, Issue Brief #04107604.

I said nothing about "illegals" and crime.

Of course you did. It is what is implied by your statements, when you replied to another poster's comments. You tried to make a correlation between illegal immigration and the reduction in crime rate. I trounced you.

Anyone can read it in context here:

I get the impression that you're a liar and shill for the OBL crowd. You still have yet to address your other lies Ill post below...why?

It's [Illegal Immigration only an important issue to a very small number of people, all of whom post on FR. 215 posted on 07/19/2005 10:32:21 AM CDT by bayourod

The anti-illegals crowd is neither Christian, pro life nor evangelical. They are anti-family values, anti-medical care for babies, anti-education of children, anti-Catholic Church, and pro abortion.

"Perhaps you meant to say "illegal aliens?" "

Tancredo opposes the Denver library having books in Spanish because it might encourage "illegal" Hispanics to use the library.

So what is that, a fact sheet from five years ago? Crime is down in California because of the three-strikes law, they're locking people up longer and getting the habitual offenders off the streets.

It doesn't change the fact the crime rates among the illegal population are higher overall. California alone has 30,000 illegal alien felons in their jails.

These are the people you want to keep bringing in here endlessly for the sake of greed. I consider the open border apologists bigger criminals than the illegal aliens themselves. They're also traitors to this nation.

you said that illegals never recieved welfare. if they never recieved welfare then why did 70% of AZ vote to cut off these services to illegals?

"Arizona voters back plan on illegals"
http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030929-123102-5626r.htm

"The proposal would require Arizonans to show proof of residency before receiving state social and welfare services. Federally mandated services such as public schooling would still be provided. The initiative would also require proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote and proof of identity when voting.

The initiative's supporters point to the drain on state hospitals, notably Maricopa County Hospital, which is reportedly losing $2 million each week because of the flood of illegal immigrants seeking care.

Meanwhile, the state's welfare program has ballooned from $200 million in fiscal 2001 to $1.2 billion in fiscal 2002, an increase they say is due in part to illegal immigrants tapping into the system. "

Checkmate.

Why, of COURSE they don't take welfare. You know that $800 billion they contribute to the economy? Well, since they only send 10% of that back to Mexico, that leaves them with a good $720 billion ("after taxes," of course). Why on earth would they need welfare with that kind of pocket change?

If California votes in the Border Patrol Initiative you might finally see people going out instead of in. I also think that's why there in a panic mode in Washington and want to get an amnesty passed before the states take action on their own.

"A UNLV study asserts illegals contribute 16 billion a year to our local economy."

How do they contribute to the ecomony when they are sending most of the money they earn back to Mexico. Remittances are the largest portion of the Mexican economy.

Not since at least 1965 when Ted Kennedy and LBJ shoved that Immigration Reform turkey down the country's throat.

I just despise that argument. We have plenty of people here that would do the work the illegals are doing now.

I've heard it a million times, we need the cheap labor to keep our economy going. That's pure poppycock.

Been there, in fact I have to go to Lost Wages every four years to attend a Republican State Convention.

Wow, a whole once every four years? You're practically a local.

In reality L.V. is a cancer on the state of Nevada, just as Kalifornia is a cancer on the nation!

You're entitled to your opinion. Yesterday after my kids daily classes at the two nearby rec centers, I went to a 5 star resturant (open shelled king crab legs too), played the tables a bit where they brought me free drinks as I won about $60 - basic strategy blackjack is a 98% return game-, then went to the Velvet Revolver concert. Slash was freaking aweseom, BTW.

It's a really nice day today (only about 102 degrees). May take the kids to hike up in Red Rock Canyon. Or maybe the local water park which the cleanest public water facility I have ever seen. I'll have to ask them which one they will prefer. Heck, maybe both.

Yeah, it's a real sh*thole here.

For the sake of comparison, where do you live? Maybe I am missing something. I'm open to reconsideration.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add. Las Vegas is the most visited place on earth. Surpassing Mecca last year.

34 million people anually flocking to the cancer on the state of Nevada.

Apparently there are a whole lot, and by whole lot, I mean A WHOLE LOT, of people who disagree with you.

How could 5 of the world's largest hotels exist in such a lousy place and maintain 95%+ occupancy rates?

Ah, I'm sure it's just masochists.

Link to where I said that. Of all the people posting on FR in the last six years you have to be the least mentally developed. You sound like a home educated 12 year old who hasn't had the opportunity to be around other children enough to develop verbal skills.

Please find someone else to practice upon.

So since a few will succeed in getting in regardless, we should make no effort at all? Typical.

Another Immigrant myth.

Federal law prohibits even the legal immigrants from participating any type welfare programs for five years except WIC.

It's even worse than that. [Tancredo Supporters] They are against the war in Iraq. It is part of their isolationist philosophy as enunciated by their prophet Buchanan.

They opposed President Bush sending troops to Iraq in the beginning. They want the troops brought back now to guard the border and they want the money being spent on Iraq to be spent building a wall around our borders.
