Dolly, I do know Ponte Vedra. Did you get down a tad farther (but above Daytona Beach) to that jewel of a place - Bulow Creek???
It is a fascinating savannas place, the road meandering along it; and John James Audubon (1785-1851) spent two whole months there, sketching it and the birds and wildlife!
it is a great book. Two christmas ago I gave out 18 of them for gifts. most said (months later) it was the best gift they received that year.
and yes, I do recall that. I have wondered how the young man & the woman are both doing. After the initial flurry of info we now have nothing.
never got there Maggie. I am now thinking of where I will alite eventually.. I think I want the Atlantic coastal area Nag's head south to below Jax.. I really have missed the ocean during my years of caregiving mom. I need to investigate a lot of the laws/rules re: estates, taxation etc before I decide. I love Hilton Head area..and also the rural parts near Emerald Isle. I am not into busy/touristy beach areas
Hahahahaha.....
I forgot to ask you earlier (if you know).. what is she holding in her hands. the PINK stuff. ?
LOL! Thank you for adding to the list! There are so many holidays out there.
Would you? :) I was going to ask you if you wanted to help but didn't want to put you on the spot in case you didn't have time.
LOL
I love it! She would take them all. Today she asked if we could go by PetSmart and get a kitty.
I did not relent .... I told her that we already had too many pets. Four dogs and a goldfish. She doesn't think that is too many. :)
BTW...we had that picture redone a few years ago, it had almost faded out (in case you were wondering why the colors were so vivid).
Friends of mine of 33 years live there, Dolly, and its proximity to Jacksonville, NC and Camp LeJeune has resulted in many Marine Corps retirees around them.
Guaranteed to be a patriotic bunch..:))
B. was a Southern Territory Sears in Atlanta type, over me when I was with them in Ft. Pierce, Florida; and he and the Southern Territory Manager (his good friend, who later went to W-S) over me "adopted" me.
My husband was transferred to Winston-Salem to manage a store there, and later we went to Greensboro, and B and his wife, D, let us use their Emerald Isle beach house gratis at the end of the week after I was hospitalized 6 1/2 days with ketoacidosis in 1982.
In 1993 after they'd retired and moved back there permanently, they had us visit them.
Their house is a block up from the beach on a bluff, not subject to a tidal surge - and with wide decks surrounding the house and glass walls on the ocean side, the views are fantastic!!
He is still active in insurance, the community (as is she) - he is on the Board and works without pay in a Medical Clinic in Morehead City for indigent/no insurance folks....both active in church, too.
Friend Pete died 3 years ago, but B and I still exchange email and family and Marine Corps things.
(He was in the Corps, too, during the Korean Conflict, but did not reenlist.)
Hilton Head?
Much too expensive cost of living now!
well sistahs and all the Finest FRiends. I am pooped!!!! Going to try to sleep. Billie, it has been a fun thread & I enjoyed spending a bit more time her today than I have recently.
14 angels to you all, dear FRiends.
Would love to help out, Aqua...
Night All.
Night, Aqua - sweet dreams....
LOL!!! That's a funny one.
Well, you're smart. :-) Hope you're having a nice evening.
LOL, thanks Dolly
Thanks, I needed to loose for many reasons, when you get down on the floor and feel like a beached whale trying to get up it's time to loose weight.
