WASHINGTON - Former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott blames his fall from power in 2002 on a "personal betrayal" by an ambitious Sen. Bill Frist (news, bio, voting record), his successor, adding in a new book that President Bush, Colin Powell and other GOP associates played a role. ADVERTISEMENT

Frist, R-Tenn., "didn't even have the courtesy to call and tell me personally that he was going to run," the Mississippi Republican wrote of a tumultuous period in which he lost his position as Senate leader after making racially tinged remarks.

Bah, forgot to post a reply.

It's hard to say who is worse: Frist or Lott.

Why does the Republican MAJORITY senate keep putting fools like Specter and these 2 clowns into position of influence when there are dozens of REAL senators with conviction waiting in the wings?

Lott has betrayed Republicans so many times, now he knows what it's like.

So what? Lott is guilty of a much more serious crime; that stupid hat he wore down to Bush's Ranch years ago.

He deserves a beating for that hat.

So might as well return the favor, right, Trent?

Lott betrayed this country when he led the Senate in abdicating its Constitutional duties during impeachment. Now he expects sympathy?

Lott has to get a grip!

He played ever so nicely with the Democrats, he “shared” power, even though the Republicans controlled the Senate with the Vice President’s vote.

Then He misspoke at an old man’s birthday and the Democrats he “shared” power with, and was so friendly with, they, and their lapdog media chewed him up and spit him out.

Now he has the guts to blame anyone but himself? Unbelievable!

When measured against Frist, Lott comes up far-far short. Which says a lot, 'cuz Frist isn't anything to brag about.

By his own admission, Lott betrayed Dole and his party by canoodling with Clinton (with Dick Morris playing cupid).

The Clintons might be back in '08 and Lott is auditioning for his previous held position as feather-clad canoodler.
