I caught this portion of the show this morning and it caused mist in my eyes. The part that stands out to me was when the soldiers were asked if they should pull out. The camera showed a sea of heads quietly moving from side to side. When Lauer pressed the point a G.I. said, as long as the American people cover our backside we want to be here. I truly wish I could recall the exact words but this is what my mind retained from what I heard. Cover their backside is the least Americans can do in support of their efforts.

Thank you Captain Sherman Powell. I wish I could buy you a beer for that wonderful slam dunk over Matt Lauer's head.

Who is the guy in the dress talking to PeeWee Herman?

Glad I don't have a TV.

A couple of weeks ago, Matt was interviewing the Australian hostage that was freed maybe about 1-2 months ago. Lauer was trying to get him to say that the effort to train the Iraqis was failing. They guy didn't fall for it- He said that "It was the Iraqi army that rescued me- It is working". Lauer gulped, and then changed the subject!

I love it when the tabled get turned on these jerks!

I'm going to the USO show tonight where Matt Lauer is appearing.

Who will oppose me in a bet that he won't ask that question here? He'll be surrounded by soldiers and Devil Dogs. Not a very welcoming reception party LOL!

"Well sir, I'd tell you, if I got my news from the newspapers I'd be pretty depressed as well!"

I'm not complaining but would have loved it even more if he'd have said: "Well sir, I'd tell you, if I got my news from networks like yours and the newspapers, I'd be pretty depressed as well!"

Thank you for your service!
Enjoy the show. And if you can smack Matt around for me, I'd really appreciate it. :)

Great post! You have got to hand it to our officers. Not only do they have to hunt down and kill miserable low-life terrorists who are trying to blow their arms and legs off, they have to slap down the American hating MSM as well. And unbelievable as it may seem they are winning the war on both fronts. Kudos to the Captain and also Mr. Finkelstein. Thank you for the wonderful post.

Please don't spit too much on that little puke buzzard !! Man, I rank him right up there with John Kerry and Howard Dean. Enjoy the show though, you have earned it in spades!

Give Lauer credit. He went there, interviewed the troops without a filter and let them tell something to the people at home.

He actually did his job and probably changed a lot of minds.

That is one good thing that did come across the screen. No matter how slanted his questions were, the people watching still got to hear from the troops. I am glad about that. Of course, they will say "Sure, they SAY that, they cannot badmouth the military and still have their job". I've heard it a million times.

But the ones who aren't so jaded, may take away some positives from this Today show.
