Able Danger official identified. Delco Times columnist Gil Spencer, who has long covered Curt Weldon's Pennsylvania district, has just interviewed the Able Danger official who is going public tonight on Fox News. Spencer is the first journalist I am aware of to reveal the identity of the Able Danger official who originally briefed the 9/11 commission staff about Able Danger's findings back in October 2003 at Bagram Air Force Base in Afghanistan. That official is DIA Ltn. Col. Tony Shaffer. He served in a liaison capacity between Able Danger and the Special Operations Command (SOCOM) in Tampa, Florida, and he flew into Afghanistan with special ops in a boots on the ground capacity. (Shaffer confirmed to Spencer that he is indeed the "Anonymous" who has posted some comments about Able Danger over at Inteldump, by the way.) More soon on their interview. It's still a bit vague as to what exactly on Atta and the "Brooklyn cell" the Able Danger team came up with, but Shaffer did tell Spencer that the Able Danger team briefed then Special Ops commander, now Army Chief of Staff Pete Schoomaker on their findings. Shaffer also told Spencer that he had met with Pentagon intel czar Stephen Cambone in the E-ring today about the Able Danger issue, so clearly the Pentagon is paying attention. Stay tuned.
...not to mention any adoption records from the past 50 yearsw, to see if he's REALLY one of the Boys from Brazil...
bttt
BUMP!
Two years before 9/11/01 puts this episode squarely into the Clinton years. If the left tried another "what did Bush know and when did he know it" they'd land right back in Ratherland. Sure they'll try it anyhow, hoping to brazen it out, but IMO they're going to be wusses on this one just as they were with the SBVfT.
Do you mean Michael Smerconish of WPHT - 1210 AM (The Big Talker) in Philly? Both Smerconish and Dom Giordano (evenings) have been supporting Weldon for weeks on this.
They also provide significant support and airtime to Santorum as well.
Consider, too, that the FBI was notified in April, 2001, by the Czechs that someone had met with Iraqi security agent al-Ani. The FBI sent two Czech-speaking agents to Prague to investigate, according to an official in the Czech government. After 9/11, the Czechs notified Washington that, hey, that guy al-Ani met with was Mohammed Atta. The FBI started throwing water on that story. Were they afraid of it being claimed that they had information that could have nailed Atta? Who knows?
Bump.
Where can I find that story? I hadn't heard it before.
I suspect their initial strategy will be to simply not talk about Shaffer at all.
Fortunately, the MSM no longer has the power to dictate what is and what isn't news.
The owner of the flight school that trained Atta and another hijacker claims that: 1) the commission's dates on their flight training in Venice, FL are wrong and 2) he was never interviewed by the commission staff. There was an earlier FR thread today on this.
just sitting on the sidelines while being an armchair quarteback all at the same time . . .
I am Able Danger
Well she didn't interview anyone. She only reported the story and did not name him either. Very disappointing.
".....my prayers for his, and his families, well being....."

Amen to that! Rush mentioned today that Weldon was just one lone man trying to do this, and hoped that he had solid evidence and witnesses, saying that it was unlikely that he would be successful against the D.C. establishment. But, he did leave room for hope when he advised patience to wait and see.
My thoughts went immediately to the story of David and Goliath, and the victory won by one determined young man with a stone and a sling shot, and faith in the providence of God. Believers need to pray that truth and good prevail for our country and the well-being of our people, no matter whose action or lack of action is exposed. We know that Clinton and his people could be wrong, even deliberately so, on many occasions and Bush only once because of faulty information, and the left would focus solely on Bush's "mistake". Their relativism and moral equivalence is sickening, but it's the only way they have of even approaching the company of decent people. I hope all of these Able Danger people are truly patriots, and are without a political agenda. I believe they are. May God bless and guide for what is best for the USA.
Yes, boy did i butcher his name.
Still another 1/2 hour of the show. Tony said it was going to be on this show.
here it is
Wonder if the Clinton people are still in the cat killing business?
Not TV what is being said..
