Jennings was as biased, if not more, than Dan Rather. Though I generally think Jennings' bias was against America, Rather was anti-conservative.
Um...I don't quite know how to say this but: He's DEAD. How much older can "news" get? Sorry my friends, but I know when to move on...
I see Jennings didn't rush to Cuba to get his lung cancer treated.
The maudlin fawning in the media over the departure of a commie-loving, pali-terrorist apologist like Jennings is enough to make me puke. O'Blowhard was especially sickening.
I don't understand why this whining commie from Canuckistan got so much credit as a media icon, he never graduated high school, reluctantly took American citizenship very late in his life. Why do we like to glorify mediocrity, incompetence and downright antiamericanism?
I always resented the fact that he worked and became so very famous and wealthy here in the states and yet never became a citizen until just two years ago. oh well, that doesn't matter now. R.I.P.
Great post!
Not to speak ill of the dead or anything, but I am glad that Jennings will do no more damage to my country.
The ropes are off. Jennings was nothing but a commie/socialist shill who should be remembered that way.
While I disagreed with Jennings politically, there is something to be said for respect for the dead. RIP Mr. Jennings.
I wondered why Rush said nothing about Jennings death. I can only imagine what he thought. Hannity had a little tribute but that was all I heard on talk radio.
Just another undereducated leftie. I remember him bashing Bush on 9-11-01 for not immediately returning to DC, and I'll never forgive him for it. Phone Bill is claiming Jennings wasn't an idealogue--because he admired a conservative Canadian broadcaster--but then O'Bloviator's perspective is more than a tad warped having spent so much time hanging around and admiring undereducated lefties.
I hate to say it about a guy who has just passed away, but what an idiot!
Jennings's bias was masked by his urbane, sophisticatd delivery.
Speak only well of the dead.
Thank God we only had to endure 20 years of this pompous, anti-American oaf.
It makes me very sad to read such derisive comments about a man who just passed away. At least Rush Limbaugh had the decency not to trample upon a man's grave.
When a voice for reason is considered treason, I start to wonder why I put on the uniform to protect this country. America is exceptional, but with such a fatal divide of our population, I wonder for long? Where is the moderate debate in this country?...it seems common ground is becoming scarce.
Since he died, I have heard various people talk about how he dropped out of school at a young age. Well he reeked of that.
He reeked of being the type of person making up for not having a certain credential and/or not being very smart. Typical of such people he glommed onto the orthodoxy of the day, PC liberalism, and fought like a tiger to defend it rather than to have to think.
Just like the idiots in Hollywood, he was too uneducated or too stupid to think for himself. [Actors, musicians etc at least have the excuse they were too busy learning their craft to learn or understand economics, politics etc.] He was ok in front of a camera so he adopted the orthodoxy of NYC and said in lock-step all the things you quoted. His lack of education and brain power led him to pretend to be "thoughtful" by not thinking at all and just memorizing the left orthodoxy. Unfortunately at his moment in US history, it served him far too well.
The memory of his remarks stung. Seeking them all in a row, shows why.
Let's just say........he will NOT be missed.
Tom Brocaw, retired.
Dan Rather, fired.
Peter Jennings, expired.
Yes, things change. I don't like socialists. I especially don't like Canadian Socialists. They're just below French Sociailists on my S*** List.
