All we are saying is give peas a chance
All we are saying is give peas a chance

War! - huh- yeah-
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Uh-huh
War! – huh – yeah-
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it again y’all
War! – huh – good God
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Listen to me…

All we are saying is give peas a chance
All we are saying is give peas a chance

Yes, how many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky ?
Yes, how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry ?
Yes, how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died ?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

All we are saying is give peas a chance
All we are saying is give peas a chance

Where have all the young men gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young men gone?
Gone for soldiers every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

All we are saying is give peas a chance
All we are saying is give peas a chance

Dream

He stood at the precipice, looking over the countryside. He could feel the hunger growing in him. Rumblings in his stomach sounded like a reluctant companion for his journey. The morning mists were being carried away by a steady breeze.

He leaned into the breeze, feeling its strength. His shoulders flexed with anticipation as he readied himself. Leaning further over the edge, he toppled into the depths.

His wings grabbed air with a crack of tension, filling and stretching over the spindly frames that held them like a bat’s wing. He was gliding outward from the cliff face, but he was still sinking slowly. He would need more altitude.

Setting his wings for the power stroke, he stretched just a bit as -- Crack! -- his wings pushed down against the air with incredible force, telegraphing the strain through the straining tendons and stiff bones of his joints, and into the remarkably strong leathery material of his wings.

Again the noise filled the air around him; pushing out toward the cliff face behind him, and the jagged rocks below, echoing back as a diffuse rumble like distant thunder. He rose on powerful strokes into warm sunshine, and crystal clear air.

Relaxing a bit, he soared over the countryside, scanning the green and brown patches below for sight of his prey. In silence he drifted, listening to the sounds of life stirring below. Birds called softly, while other animals noisily tore into rotted timber for insect life, or threw dirt carelessly as they pursued small rodents through their endless burrows.

Suddenly he caught sight of an animal scampering between its forest cover and a clump of large bushes. He tilted into a steepening glide toward the animal. While it was only halfway across the clearing, he arced across the final yards of space between them and slammed into the animal with the stunning force of his long, razor-sharp talon-like claws. The animal tumbled and roared in agony, rearing up to its full, threatening height of eight and a half feet tall. This was the equivalent of a fully-grown grizzly bear.

Calmly folding his wings, he leaned toward the animal and opened his mouth in a threatening grimace of his own. His jaw clicked in a familiar head-vibrating snap, and a gush of liquid erupted toward the animal, bursting into flame and enveloping the beast in an unquenchable agony. Writhing and slashing with its claws, the mortally wounded animal soon succumbed to this second attack, and fell heavily to the ground with smoke rising from its charred fur and flesh.

Glancing around in the sudden stillness, he approached the animal and began consuming the partially cooked meat, swallowing bones and claws together. In minutes, there was nothing remaining in evidence except a blackened wet spot on the ground. Looking heavenward again, he spread his wings and with that now familiar thunderclap of wings, he sprang into the sky.

"Fire breathing dragon? "

Yep! -- I liked the idea of bringing attention to what it was gradually, so that you could get into identifying with the dragom's point of view.

Still, a dragon has to have something more than meat to be able to sustain fire, (and flight!) I've built up a scenario where dragons make sense biologically, and aerodynamically, but they will also have to have a sensible energy signature and process.

My dragons will be primarily herbivores, but with their awesome defensive and offensive capabilities, surely no one will object to their having the occasional protein snack.

And if they wanted to object, how would they?

Flame retardant suit, and a bull horn?

"Flame retardant suit..."

Ah, yes. You're beginning to focus on some of the minor problems besetting dracoculture.

IIRC, a "hot toddy" is hot lemonade spiked with booze

Sort of. In a coffee cup, mix 1 oz. wiskey, rum, or whatever, 1 oz. of very hot water, a pinch of salt, a teaspoon of lemon juice, and honey to taste. Sip.

yeah, but there is no US importer at the moment, so the availability of the Saiga-12 in all models is sharply declining and the prices are going UP...

...and now, it turns out that Izhmash's friggin' email addy is friggin' useless! I can't even ask them what the hell is going on with the importer situation.

GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAH!!!
