8/12/05 Update:
Here I am again! I just got a call from the police in Crawford, and they have moved our location! (Are you believing this? ) I need to make another prominent announcement--and hope you will help one more time. What's your opinion about starting yet another thread? We already have two going, I think. Announcement: The Crawford police have changed our permit location.
We are now being asked to congregate in the Community Center parking, in the 1000 block of East 4th St.
This is very close to where they had located us first, so, hopefully, people who don't get this message can see us and come on over. Thanks for everyone's patience with all these changing "news flashes"

Just a few minutes ago, I spoke with a person at radio station KWTX AM. The person told me that their rally to support the troops has indeed been cancelled!
According to the person I spoke with, the management of the station cratered to people who were saying that they were attacking a "grieving mother".
Here's the phone number to the station:254-776-3900. Ask for the station manager.
We need lots of calls to that station. And now--more than ever, we need people in Crawford on Saturday.
I plan to be there! I hope many of you will rethink your plans for Saturday and make the sacrifice to join me there.
Why? Because some of us do more than just sit behind our keyboards. It's not about her. It's about showing our troops and their families that idiots like her are in the minority. Which is NOT easy to do, because getting conservatives to do something besides gripe is like asking the Pope to stop praying.
Were I there, my sign would read "The president already met with you. Go home, he's on vacation now."
You know your post gave me pause... for a split second I ALMOST agreed with you...
BUT - you know I started thinking about it.. it was this sort of crap that in part caused so much of the distaste for our troops during VietNam... and I don't think there was much counter-protesting... we let the "hippy dippies" have their way..
I want our troops (and our President) to know that THEY ARE SUPPORTED! Even while the likes of Ms. Sheehan is trying to imply differently.
My family's signs will not make mention of Ms. Sheehan or the naysayers - they'll only support our troops and our President.

That's what I'm talking about!
I just question the PR value of counter-protesting a "greiving mother." I doubt this will be presented by the media as a pro-American rally in response to the bleatings of an anti-semitic tool of the radical socialist far left. It'll be big meanies picking on the crying mom of a dead soldier.
Not going to have a positive net effect on the cause, in my opinion. But its a free country, and all can do what they think best.
This is what they're protecting.
FWIW, I thought it was a rally to support the troops?
Call it what you will, but it's in Crawford for a reason, and any media report on it will certainly feature the hysterical crying mom of the dead soldier who happens to be across the road from the rally.
That's what it is :)

Haven't heard from any of you on this!
I have mixed feelings about this one too. How long will she remain a story if we leave her alone? To give the appearance of attacking her will keep her a story for a few more days. I think the media has just about milked her story for all it's worth. I hate to see her have the last word, but it may be best to let her fade away and not give the media a "mean conservatives" story.
Are you kidding? They're just getting warmed up. The articles are coming out every day.
