I always wondered how they knew so much about Atta within hours of the WTC attacks.
I didn't. I figured he was under already investigation when they got it all up so quick. There is no other way that it could've happened that quickly.
I don't remember now if I spoke out on that back then or not.
And this...The second reason they gave them was, were concerned about the political fallout that occurred after Waco... is a piss poor excuse and unadulterated, raw, stinking BS!

The following is speculation!
Waco happened in Feb-April 1993 at the beginning of Cartoon's first term and this didn't happen until 1999 and 2000. In 2000 capturing foreign terrorists planning domestic terrorism would've gotten the Dems another eight or more years in office. It just doesn't make sense.
I believe the Dems/Clinton thought they were going to lose the next election (Bush announced his exploratory committee in March 1999) no matter what they did to try and repair their image and they wanted to cause as much chaos for the incoming Bush admin as they could and ignoring those guys would allow just that to happen when they struck in his first term of office.
They probably didn't think they would be as destructive as they were after their failure on the WTC in Feb. '93. ('93 was a busy year)

I hope I'm wrong in thinking so poorly of my fellow Americans, but after the 10+ years, well, you never know and I hope I'm wrong.
