If the Dems get in in '08, they'll nationalize the oil companies.

I think you meant this:

However, the USA may not be getting this model. The rumor going around is that Honda will officially unveil the second-generation Honda Fit in Japan in May 2006, about the same time Honda starts importing Fits from Japan for the US market. I don't think Honda will keep production stampings for both first and second-generation models in Japan once the second-generation model is out.

Anyway, the Fit is the #1 selling car in Japan, mostly because it's small enough for the many narrow streets in Japan and has decent interior space for such a small car. It has become very popular in China, thanks to Honda opening a Fit production line there.

As do many others, I'm sure.

On the contrary smartass! Do you think you have a monopoly on being the sarcastic one line tossing dipshit of FR?

I've been following up on some of your posts and you appear to be a turd flinging antogonist who thinks he can say whatever he wants to whomever he wants without being called on it.

Read my post again. If you can't back up your asinine comments with facts then maybe you should try some other venue like DU. I hear they like folks who are rumour mongers and emotional idiots who don't care about anyone except themselves.

Next time put some thought into your stupid posts and you won't get called on it.

What amazes me is that instead of taking my post and realizing you stepped in the S*** pile you choose instead to pour more gas on a fire. If you want to make enemies of FReepers instead of friends, then that's your choice.

There are others out in FR who are much better than you at being sarcastic and who don't give a rats ass who they piss off, but when they're wrong and they're called on it they're adult enough to acknowledge it, unlike you.

Quote: but its about all that is available short term. ask american companies to allow workers who can telecommute, to do so at least one day per week. if we could take a 20% reduction in gasoline usage by eliminating one commute per week for a large number of workers, we could make a noticeable drop in gasoline usage very quickly.

I don't think that will help prices. China and India's fuel usage is skyrocketing each year. Whatever gas we don't use they will end up using and more.
Now if all countries used your idea it may help...

F*ck the cartel. We need to take MAJOR steps towards energy independence NOW.

Add this to terrorism, border control, and private property rights as hot 2006/2008 election issues.

Then there's people like me who don't have much choice. I work in sales and drive to appointments. No driving, no income. Over 90% of my driving is work related and since Akron doesn't exactly have a reasonable, efficient mass transit system, I get the shaft.

But LA and ALL of the rest of CA deserves paying those prices for energy look what THEY keep electing to DC and Sacramento.

What, you think the ol lady in Kentucky deserves this too? Like you, should she blame this whole mess on California?

Man, I can not believe some of the comments I read here. Anything, any excuse to attack Cal.

Gets old.

"Not being alive in the 70s, I just do not have a memory of how the price controls hurt supply, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense."

I lived through that period and in Canada we didn't have line ups but gas prices increased daily sometimes hourly because of price controls in the US market.

My second car at that time was a '52 Humber Hawk. It had a flat head four cylinder engine rated a 86 HP.

It cost me $1.00 a week to run that car, in fact I made it a habit to put a $1.00 in the tank every Friday.

I ran the car constantly with the fuel guage dead on empty just to see if I ran out of gas. Never did.

I wish I still had the car because if restored it would be worth $30,000 and I'd be spending $10.00 a week to run it.

The Republican Congress might just as well resign right now. If this mess continues much longer, the Democrats are likely to sweep the 2006 elections and retake control of Congress with veto-proof majorities.
