Dr. Dean's misdirected outrage

National Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean frequently blames the world's ailments on President Bush in particular and conservative Republicans in general, at times with such fervor that even fellow Democrats express their misgivings about his rash rhetoric. The former Vermont governor, a physician, delivered a blatant misdiagnosis last week in blaming "right wing" jurists for a controversial June Supreme Court ruling on eminent domain.

Expressing outrage over that decision, which stretched government's reach in "taking" private property to unprecedented lengths, Gov. Dean told the College Democrats of America convention in Washington: "The president and his right-wing Supreme Court think it is OK to have the government take your house if they feel like putting a hotel where your house is."

Oops. The five justices who comprised the majority in that 5-4 ruling were John Paul Stevens, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Anthony Kennedy and David Souter. The first three are clearly on the court's liberal side, and none of the five can be convincingly called conservative. Indeed, the high court's only three consistently "right wing" members, Chief Justice William Rehnquist, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, joined moderate Sandra Day O'Connor in voting for the losing, private-property side in the Kelo v. New London case.

By decrying a ruling rendered from the left, Dr. Dean undermined the Democrats' case against confirming judicial nominees from the right. He also prompted many observers on the right, left and in between to wonder again why his party hasn't replaced him.

I certainly wonder why the Democrats haven't replaced Governor Dean, but I am enjoying it while it lasts.

One can only hope as the Iraqi's vote on their constitution, then elect a new fully democratically installed government in place, and their security forces and army, navy, and airforce assume total command and as our guys start pulling out, relentlessly pursue those remaining terrorist, insurgents, asshole*, criminals that still sneak around, that Dean will have to put himself in a mental institution. The L/MSM thought they will downplay the events as much as possible cannot continue to fool the masses that have at least a shred of gray matter, into believing the POTOS was in the wrong. Then again, I shouldn't be so cocky. There are an awfull lot of folks out there that have not a clue, and depend only on the L/MSM for input.

R-r-r-r-r-r-i-g-h-t!
How can that man live with himself after saying something so ignorant?
Blame, blame, blame!
Anyone but the Kool-Aid drinkers knows he's full of nothing but bile.
As Imus is wont to say, "You can't make this stuff up!"

So Dean finally has seen the light and agrees that Ginsburg was a bad choice for SCOTUS!

Will this be in the NYT?

Mega-Liar and untreated raving Bipolar, semi-recovering Alcoholic, Narcissistic Personality Disordered Dean has it completely backwards on the Kelo decision.

Pathetic. What a sicko. A disgrace to the medical profession.

On the other hand would you want to be treated by someone with Dean's psychotic behavior and dishonesty?

Dean and the liberals works overtime to give terrorists a cushion for their actions and laugh at Americans who love their country. They always manage to take the position that most undermines our security.

"Pathetic. What a sicko. A disgrace to the medical profession."

We should all write to thank the DNC for being willing to sacrifice so deeply to keep Howard away from the patients.

I don't think you're being cocky.

Actually,I believe what we are witnessing is the unraveling of the Left.

They have lowered their guard in a last desperate attempt to get our attention, and in so doing are openly wishing America will fail.

Dean is unstable, but he is not stupid.

Dean is simply trying to obfuscate the responsibility for an obviously stupid and damaging Supreme Court decision.
