"Rottweiler species should be exterminated off the face of the eart. "

Your barking up the wrong tree. Rottweilers are one of the most intelligent and lovable breeds. However, they all need obedience training and should never be owned by those unwilling to commit a lot of time to the dog.

Right in there with rattlesnakes, alligators, hyenas, grizzlys, and Dingos.

I think with some dogs you have to be extra clear who the alpha dog is...

My mom had a poodle...a miniature poodle but a pretty good size one...on the big side of miniature. She was sitting between my mom and my son who was three at the time. My son leaned over and put his cheek on the poodle's back. Didn't lay on the poodle, just gently laid his check over on her back.

That poodle growled at my son and showed her teeth.

My mom pushed my son away and pulled the poodle up to her face and said (in baby-talk) "Don't you growl! Don't you act like that!" then just covered it in kisses.

You know that both me and that poodle learned real quick where the poodle was in the pecking order. I never really trusted it again.

(I shoulda figured it out years before when I was on my way to my wedding shower and the dog jumped up on my brand new nylons...I told the dog to get down and my mom shrieked at me that if I couldn't get along with her dog I could just get out of her house.)

So domesticating a Rottweiler is an uphill struggle.

I’ve seen 4 rottweiler child attack stories posted here in the last 2 years. As a toddler “owner”, I think rottweilers should be licensed the same as pets such a lions, assuming they really are statistically more likely to attack than average. And owners should be criminally responsible if they escape or attack.

Three words:

BUT THEY ARE!

Whatever. The fact that they require so much training to curb their killer instinct just shows how stupid they are. Pits too. Dumbest dogs on the planet. Have you ever seen the kind of people who own these animals? I've never seen one whom I would label intelligent or affluential.

Then their keep should be licensed to those who can document such training. Same with pit bulls and any other breeds who have a propensity to unprovoked attacks.
