The MSM have been at it again, as usual. They have been giving this anti-war Bush-hater a lot of coverage. Have you ever seen the 3 networks giving a special election so much coverage and rooting for a military "veteran"?

And the media wonder why their approval ratings below a used care salesmen and lawyers.

Rush talking about this now.

A caller from the district said hackett doesn't even mention he's a democrat.

Like I said before anybody who lives in the district, don't take any thing for granted, get out and vote for Schmidt.

My prediction is Schmidt wins with 60%, which is underperforming for this district.

That's my thinking too.

Limbaugh is discussing this...taking callers from the area...

"Bellwether"??? With Hackett disguising himself as a conservative?? No Way!

Now if Gov. Daft is the hidden candidate...well...no, I won't think those thoughts...

Daft is gone in 06 to make way for Ken Blackwell(and the DUmmies are even going to go more DUmmie over his candidacy)

MP..what doesn't make any sense to me..seems that the Dems had the ideal candidate for a hard Red district..a USMC Iraq war vet, family guy, and a gun owner. So whay does Hackett make these idiotic comments about Bush...calling him the greatest danger to World Peace, etc..I mean, I probably could have gotten the guy elected if he'd just kept his mouth shut..

Rush is certainly giving this a lot of coverage - that should prompt more conservatives to make it to the polls.

As conservative as this district might be, in a special election, anything can happen with lopsided turnouts possible.

Blackwell is one of the top 10 people most hated by the DUmmies. He ranks below Bush, Cheney, and Rove, but slightly above Katherine Harris.

As for Blackell's candidacy, he is leading but we are all waiting to see what dirty tricks Daft & Co. plan for derailing him in the primary.

Schmidt needs to try to get on the line and get on his show and encourage turnout.

Hackett on the War in Iraq:

War in Iraq
If elected, I will be the only member of Congress to have served in Iraq. I fought in the Fallujah campaign, took part in reconstruction efforts, and worked side-by-side with Iraqi military and civil personnel. I know what’s really happening in Iraq.

The White House has been painting a rosy picture and people aren’t buying it anymore. We all know the outcome is uncertain and there is no exit date. But even now, too many conservatives just want to applaud whatever the administration does. And too many liberals who opposed the war want to see the president’s Iraq policy fail.

I was against the war. It was a misuse of our military that damaged our credibility throughout the world and squandered our political capital. Still, I volunteered to serve, and I have no regrets. But now we need to face the reality of the situation there. Our country has gone to war and every American must share in that responsibility.

The good news is we can successfully exit Iraq once the roughly 140,000 Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) are adequately trained and skilled enough to defend their fledgling government.

The bad news is they are nowhere near the level of skill to accomplish that mission and are likely years away from that goal.

I know this from fighting alongside Iraqis, and training them. They are simply not ready to defend their country against the insurgents that threaten to destroy Iraq’s future.

No matter what your position on the war, if we pull out now the entire region will spiral into chaos and present our nation and military with a far more difficult challenge than we currently face. I don’t relish the prospect of my two sons going over there in twenty years. We need to get it right, and we need to do it now.

The Iraqi people and government are grateful that we eliminated their brutal dictator. They are capable of running their own government and building a democracy. It won’t look like ours; nor should it. But in order for them to succeed, we must not withdraw our troops before the Iraqis are ready to stand on their own.
