A renegade band of Mexican military deserters, offering $50,000 bounties for the assassination of U.S. law-enforcement officers, has expanded its base of operations into the United States to protect loads of cocaine and marijuana being brought into America by Mexican smugglers, authorities said.

Our government has been failing for a long time to protect this country. There is no reason why we can't have our military on the border instead of Iraq and start deporting illegal aliens and undesirable legal immigrants.

Stop right there. I want a vigorously enlarged Border Patrol. What we have now is a joke.

Soldiers are soldiers, and as a vet, I'm adamantly against placing our troops on the borders.

Bob Grant WOR AM Radio 710 NYC had a good idea last week; land mines, preceded by ample warning signs.

...as a vet, I'm adamantly against placing our troops on the borders.

Why? Isn't it important enough? I'm a Navy vet, from '66-'68, have all the appropriate ribbons, and a couple extra. I may be wrong, but I think defending our own border is why we have a standing Army (Navy, and AF). I see nothing about stationing troops in foreign lands, within our Constitution...

Did I miss something? Where is the mandate for a "border patrol"?

I have to wonder, at what point will our government consider this an invasion?

I also have to wonder how soon out military will become involved in defending the country. It seems this is beyond the capabilities of local law enforcement or the border patrol to deal with.

"I'm adamantly against placing our troops on the borders." even as a short term answer to the problem??

who do you think would help the border patrol better??

Whats your answer to increase funding to an Border patrol that has failed and is riddled with corruption??

Yes, it's important enough. But that is not what we were trained to do.

I'm a Navy vet, from '66-'68, have all the appropriate ribbons, and a couple extra.

Good for you.

I may be wrong, but I think defending our own border is why we have a standing Army (Navy, and AF). I see nothing about stationing troops in foreign lands, within our Constitution...

So you'd take former Presidents to task for stationing our troops in foreign lands to contain the spread of communism, right?

Did I miss something? Where is the mandate for a "border patrol"?

Okay. Everybody, let's do away with the Border Patrol. pageonetoo doesn't want it.

Don't be cute. And I know your style.

It hasn't failed. It's not large enough and PC rules the day. We need to root out the PC and the corruption and fund them to do their job correctly.

If our troops can help patrol every other country's borders than why not our own country?

This has all gone beyond serious it is now an obvious threat to our security.

Unfortunately, Republican Senators don't agree with you about more border patrol. In fact, they voted against that very thing a few weeks ago.

They can talk a good game though.

We are being invaded here folks. Between the Ayrabs and the Mexicans soon it wont be safe to be in our own country. What will it take for the Congress and the President to WTFU and make a move? Citizens armed and fighting in the streets? Now we sign on to Cafta and send more jobs over the border, WTF is going on?

What's going on? Big government Republican style, is what's going on. You didn't really think there was major differences in political parties, did you?

Say, Wait a minute:

Don't we have us some 'ole B-52's and other payload-droppers out in the Mojave???

Why not restore them to airworthiness (just enough to stay aloft & maneuver), fill'em with fuel & bombs and pilot them right out over the masses coming in???

Who knows? We might even get to take out one or more of those Commando's bases of ops.
