Great news.....if we can believe one word of what they are saying. Unfortunately, we cannot.

That goes for CAIR and their apologists at the Associated Press.

Unfortunately, there's no central Muslim organization, unlike the Roman Catholic Church, so a ruling by one person doesn't apply to someone else.

I think that very religious Muslims (not extremists) will be able to use this proclamation to resist 'doing favors' for any extremists that might be part of their social community. My friend is married to a Muslim. She told me that part of the culture involves doing service to other Muslims. She also said that bin Laden and some other Islamofascist leaders had no legal authority to issue fatwas because they lack authority.
The problem with the moderate Muslim commmunity IMHO is that they are scared of speaking up. Extreme factions within the Muslim community are like the mob--the imams are almost like godfathers--there is a code of silence--there is no right or wrong only loyalty to the 'family'--I would imagine that many young men who get involved find that they can't get out when they want to leave--it's like the Bloods or the Crips--organized crime--betrayal of the group ethos means death. Really sad and super scary.

Muslim "scholars"?
They know that lying to the infidel is a tenet in the koran. Where have they been in the most recent muslim outbreak of violence in the last 30 years or so? When will they stop killing Jews and Christians all over the world?
Like Sudanese Christian (who should know better than they) friends have told me: Don't believe a word Muslims say.
I don't.

Is it possible to civilize these barbarians? That's what we are trying to do in Irag, pull them out of the dark ages into the 21st century; where women are no longer property, install a representative secular government, provide for private property rights, see that rule of civil law is established, with a market economy. The alternative is rule by barbaric imam's with sharia law.

What we do know is that means they are retreating at the moment. As I understand it, they can tell the truth, or lie, if it means they will live to fight another day.
I don't see how that could be a bad thing in the short term either way.

At least they have said it publicly, risking the wrath of the militants.

Well, the Koran does forbid singling out civilians for military attack.
