The Cook County Republican Party announced Tuesday a $10,000 reward for any "whistleblower" who provides information leading to the indictment and conviction of Mayor Daley for violations of the Shakman Decree or other forms of political corruption.

The Shakman Decree is a federal court decree that bars city officials from hiring employees for political reasons.

"The arrogance of Richard Daley is appalling," Gary Skoien, Cook County GOP chairman, said in a statement. "The corruption is so pervasive, so extensive and has been going on so long that most of these insiders don't even have a clue that their actions are illegal. We hope that this reward will inspire someone with critical knowledge to come forward."

I think this is kind of dumb. I don't know about the corruption as I don't live there anymore, but Daley is well liked and mostly seems to have a lot of common sense.

e.g. Dressing down Durbing after his comments.

I'm still yanked about election night in Detroit. It just doesn't appear that anyone intends to ever clean that mess up. It's just going to continue year after year after year.

Richard Daley, the rat party, and of the course the taxpayers are paying vastly more to any whistle blower who will keep his mouth shut.

This is how "careers" in the rat machine are made.

Talk about job security.

leading to the indictment and conviction of Mayor Daley

Indictment would be easy. Conviction by a Cook County jury? Never.

"Like father...like son." You beat me to it!!! Flashbacks to the election his father corruptly won for the other crook Kennedy (son of a gangster).

If the choice is between Richard Daley and Jesse Jackson Jr., I'll take my chances with keeping Daley.

That's sort of a myth. JFK would have won in 1960 even without having won IL.
