And Then They Came After Us(Victor Davis Hanson gets it!)
National Review Online ^ | July 22, 2005 | Victor Davis Hanson

Posted on 07/23/2005 6:37:39 AM PDT by kellynla

First the terrorists of the Middle East went after the Israelis. From 1967 we witnessed 40 years of bombers, child murdering, airline hijacking, suicide murdering, and gratuitous shooting. We in the West usually cried crocodile tears, and then came up with all sorts of reasons to allow such Middle Eastern killers a pass.

Yasser Arafat, replete with holster and rants at the U.N., had become a “moderate” and was thus free to steal millions of his good-behavior money. If Hamas got European cash, it would become reasonable, ostracize its “military wing,” and cease its lynching and vigilantism.

When some tried to explain that Wars 1-3 (1947, 1956, 1967) had nothing to do with the West Bank, such bothersome details fell on deaf ears.

When it was pointed out that Germans were not blowing up Poles to get back lost parts of East Prussia nor were Tibetans sending suicide bombers into Chinese cities to recover their country, such analogies were caricatured.

When the call for a “Right of Return” was making the rounds, few cared to listen that over a half-million forgotten Jews had been cleansed from Syria, Iraq, and Egypt, and lost billions in property.

One thing about this current meme of expanding attacks. I wonder if this is the Islamo-cysts strategy, to widen the war and increase pressure on those they perceive as weak. If they succeed in that, the hope is that the weaker West will work against the stronger West to convince us to stop killing the perpetrators and their supporters.

I think VDH has caught the important angle here, that what used to be called NATO is at a decision point. We will either unite to crush these animals, or we will fracture, weaken and be driven away, leaving a couple billion people subject to slavery.

I think that the mood in the UK is changing, and for the better. But I am not confident that the strong outnumber the weak in Europe any more. Before long, it may be us, the Aussies, and some of the former Pact nations left to face this down.

I think you and I are on the same point (#21). We have to find a way to unite, not only in the US, but throughout the world. How to do this?

The guilty dog barks first.

Fact.

Niether poetry nor fiction.

You and I are going to have a very short conversation. I have no idea what either of your posts mean.

Notice how I spelled either. Put an n in front of it and you have neither.

VDH is awesome, but I do believe Islamists have indeed been arrested in China for plotting. I remember reading something about it (I know that's not much of a reference) but we don't hear much about it because China doesn't have a free press and probably doesn't like to brag about what they do to anyone suspected of plotting against the state.

Seems to me that I'm paying about $2.25/gal in gasoline. Seems to me that the oil we're wanting is something we're all paying for ... so what's the big deal?

I'm not sure (and should probaby read ahead before shooting off at the mouth) but Paladin might be saying that as long as the Saudis have us for a customer, they'll always have enough money and power to fuel this global jihad, which seems to emanate from a central point in their turf. And as long as we consider them a stable merchant we can count on to produce the oil we need, we'll never give them the genocide-level butt-kicking they so desperately need in order to knock it off.

The guilty dog DID bark first, and it was (and is) Islamists. NOT us.

This whole thing started over 50 years ago, and they are just NOW acting surprised and scared because America has put her heels on and is out to kick some but.

I don't understand your line of thinking. The article says nothing about SA and oil because the situation has nothing to do with oil, except as an excuse from Islamo fascists and the rest of the leftist world, to blame America first.

" The "oil issue" is just an excuse - anything to divert the real reasons for their insanity."

Yes, insanity like gross polygamy, objectification of women. Osama Bin Laden one of FIFTY kids his pimp daddy sired with lord knows how many enslaved wives.

This article is great. We have to keep killing the jihadists until all of them are dead or the remaining ones surrender. Surrender must include renouncing all of their fatwas and jihads. We should worry less about collateral damage. Wars result in collateral damage. If we'd tried to end WWII by hitting only military targets, we'd have been fighting the war for many more years and only brought more misery to ourselves and the Japanese.

It would seem that SA funding is behind much of the spread of fundamentalist Islam over the last 30 years. Without the oil revenue, SA would still mainly be a place where people wandered around the desert. As it turns out we are funding the spread of fundamentalist imams and ammo dumps around the world. SA could singlehandedly fix the situation of the "palis" which has been held constant for ~ 50 years while buying off the Syrians who make their own problems in the ME (partly funded by Iran).

SA doesn't want to change, doesn't want an internal multiculturalism, wants to export their monoculture and is under little pressure to moderate as long as they have the financial means to resist change while propagating their beliefs. The fact that we want to maintain good relations with SA limits our gov't's actions to counter the Islamic push within the US. (Note that the Canadians seem to be seriously entertaining letting their Islamic community begin to apply Sharia law to their own communities.)

Our gov't wants to fight a war without putting the domestic society on a war footing. It's possible that if Iraq works out reasonably well --> change in Syria and Egypt, that eventually Iran, Pakistan and SA may be turned around, but we may not have enough time to let this happen "naturally".

the real reasons for their insanity...

They are walking sexual misfits...afraid of women, sodomized as children, raised by pedophile mullahs in a collapsing society that constantly reminds them of their inadequacies/impotence compare to the West...they are a mess and they are insane.

The relationship that you describe between the Saudi princes and the Wahabbi Mullahs is exactly the reason that it is termed Islamo-fascism. But if you that a reduction in the US consumption of Saudi oil is in anyway going to influence the situation, with China waiting in wings to gobble up any leftovers, you are sadly mistaken.

The mistakes in the foreign policy between the western world and the Middle East were made a long time ago (as noted in the article), and it was a mistake of being too nice and underestimating the danger. We thought that because these people were uneducated, living a 6th century existence, that they posed no threat to western culture. We felt an obligation to help them, lift them up. It was a big mistatke.

You'd have the dems sitting there crying with the b*st*rds who'd do the crime, too, blaming the USA ...

Never in my life have I ever held such a long-standing anger towards any race or religion. I know I'm not alone in this.

Another American revolution may be stirring...

"--- Islamicists are selective in their attacks and hatred. So far global jihad avoids two billion Indians and Chinese, despite the fact that their countries are far tougher on Muslims than is the United States or Europe. In other words, the Islamicists target those whom they think they can intimidate and blackmail. ---"
-VDH-

They don't "think", they know..

We will continue to be terrorised until we go after the Islamic leadership with no holds barred, no quarter given.

Ask our own leaders why this has not been done.
