Islamist Word Game

CAIR’s condemnations of terrorism ring hollow when you consider that at least three of its officials have been convicted of terror-related crimes. If it and other Muslim groups are sincere in their antiterror statements, they’d be more specific and condemn such horrible acts of violence against non-Muslims. But they never do.

Islamist Word Game

War On Terror: Unlike after 9-11, Muslim groups have been swift to condemn the attacks in London. But after parsing their words, we wonder how sincere they are.

Take the Islamic Association of Raleigh, a large mosque in North Carolina where a suspected bomb maker in the attacks worshipped. It issued the following statement: “The Islamic Association of Raleigh would like everyone to know that we condemn the killing of innocent civilians, whether in London or Iraq, and whether committed by individuals, groups or governments.”

Look again, and note the carefully worded phrase “innocent civilians.” It’s a clever dodge. Islamists don’t view the Brits or their allies as necessarily “innocent” or “civilians.” The innocents in their eyes are Iraqis; the terrorists are the U.K. and U.S. governments.

Some Muslim leaders in Britain were more direct: “I blame the British government” for the attacks, said Sheikh Omar Bakri Mohammed. “The real terrorists are the British regime,” echoed Anjem Choudary of the British Islamist group al-Muhajiroun.

The Raleigh mosque, the city’s largest, felt compelled to issue its statement after it was revealed that Egyptian-born chemist Magdy Mahmoud Mustafa el-Nashar attended services there while a student at North Carolina State University. British police want to question el-Nashar,now in Egypt, in the bombing case.

A local reporter cast doubt on the mosque’s concern for non-Muslim victims. Attending a prayer service last week, he noted that Muslim members seemed to pay more attention to appeals to raise money for a new building wing than the bombings.

The orthodox mosque is across the street from the N.C. State campus, where Sami al-Arian, accused in the terror conspiracy, also studied—in between anti-Israel rallies staged by the radical Muslim group he founded there. Just down the highway at another college, in Greensboro, 9-11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed also took advantage of our education system. One big happy Islamist family in, of all places, Nascar country.

After the London bombings, the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, issued a statement denouncing “acts of terrorism.”Hmm. Near the scene of the 7-7 bombing of the bus in London, dozens of Muslim women in head scarves this week held signs also denouncing “terror.” Their placards read: “JUSTICE NOT TERROR” and “ILLEGAL WAR IS TERROR.” They were protesting the Iraq war, not the London massacre.

What the West defines as “terrorism,” Muslim activists may define as “legitimate resistance” or “justice.”

Yet their cleverly worded statements generally assuage skeptics. They condemn terrorism on their terms, and we don’t force them to define their terms. It’s time we started.

Good article. But I'm not sure if there's any use trying to back folks like CAIR into a corner by pressing them to speak out. Islam justifies their lying to infidels, so if they can't parse or equivocate they will simply lie.

Instead, ordinary people need to be educated about the true nature of Islam. Unfortunately, children are already being brainwashed in our public schools that it's evil to question Islam in any way, that the Crusades were an evil Christian plot against poor, downtrodden Muslims, that Israel stole Palestine from the Palestinians, and so forth.

I don't see how this can be fixed until parents understand exactly how the educational establishment is abusing their children in most of our schools and colleges.

It's truely a testiment to our tolerance and good nature that we even allow such a mosque to remain standing after it is shown to have terror ties.

"Instead, ordinary people need to be educated about the true nature of Islam."

Exactly.

I remember one of CAIR's spokemouths was asked on a TV talk show if he would like to see the US Consitution replaced with Islamic law. He tried to dodge the question several times, but finally answered that yes, as a Muslim he wanted to see all governments adopt Islamic law.

CAIR is the North American wing of Hamas. Note what Hamas does in Israel and please finally take a hint.

--What the West defines as “terrorism,” Muslim activists may define as “legitimate resistance” or “justice.”--

And what the West defines as "civility" and "fair treatment" the Islamists define as "weakness" . Face it, these are bullies of the worst order, emboldened by liberal bystanders.

Look again, and note the carefully worded phrase “innocent civilians.” It’s a clever dodge.

A clever dodge that fools many and others allow themselves to believe because it's the easier, less confrontational way. Everytime I hear one of CAIR's reports, I'm talking to the TV muttering with sarcasm 'innocent civilians - right!' Let's remember, almost no one is an 'innocent civilian' to the terrorists. I can't imagine what will finally convince most people of their 'clever' play on words and I don't want to.
