Wilson Didn't Complain About "The 16 Words" Until He Was Working On Kerry Campaign
Numerous | July 18, 2005 | Numerous

Posted on 07/18/2005 3:38:36 PM PDT by Sam Hill

Wilson didn't say boo about Bush's SOTU address or the famous "16 words about uranium" until after he was an advisor on the Kerry campaign.

It wasn't for lack of opportunity, since Wilson was on several news programs between the SOTU and when he began his jihad against Bush in June/July. Such as the program he did with Bill Moyers a month after the SOTU.

In it he said nothing about Yellowcake or Bush's duplicity at all. As you know, Wilson as CERTAIN Saddam had WMDs and would use them against us. As this exchange shows.

NOW with Bill Moyers. Transcript. Bill Moyers Talks with Joseph C. Wilson, IV. 2.28.03 | PBS

"MOYERS: President Bush's recent speech to the American Enterprise Institute, he said, let me quote it to you. "The danger posed by Saddam Hussein and his weapons cannot be ignored or wished away." You agree with that?

WILSON: I agree with that. Sure.
I…

MOYERS: "The danger must be confronted." You agree with that? "We would hope that the Iraqi regime will meet the demands of the United Nations and disarm fully and peacefully. If it does not, we are prepared to disarm Iraq by force. Either way, this danger will be removed. The safety of the American people depends on ending this direct and growing threat." You agree with that?

WILSON: I agree with that. Sure. The President goes on to say in that speech as he did in the State of the Union Address is we will liberate Iraq from a brutal dictator.
All of which is true. But the only thing Saddam Hussein hears in this speech or the State of the Union Address is, "He's coming to kill me. He doesn't care if I have weapons of mass destruction or not. His objective is to come and overthrow my regime and to kill me." And that then does not provide any incentive whatsoever to disarm."

When did Wilson become a foreign policy advisor for John Kerry?

"(Kerry Advisor Rand) Beers Said Wilson Communicates With Campaign Advisers At Least Once A Week.''

-- Patrick Healy and Wayne Washington, "In Probe Of CIA Leak, Two Sides See Politics,'' The Boston Globe, 10/2/03

"Wilson ... Said He Has Long Been A Kerry Supporter And Has Contributed $2,000 To The Campaign This Year. He Said He Has Been Advising Kerry On Foreign Policy For About Five Months And Will Campaign For Kerry, Including A Trip To New Hampshire...

-- David Tirrell-Wysocki, "Former Ambassador Wilson Endorses Kerry In Presidential Race,'' The Associated Press, 10/23/03"Wilson was beamed into New Hampshire via a conference call Thursday to make the endorsement official. He'll put in a personal appearance there next month. It had already been revealed that Wilson and his wife, Valerie Plame, had contributed to the Kerry campaign.

Wilson also acknowledged that he has been advising Kerry on foreign policy for about five months."

-- From Boston Herald editorial, "Diplomat's 'outrage' finds political outlet," 10/25/03

Five months earlier is May 2003. It was right around then that the first leaks to the press from Wilson began to show up. Of course it could just be a coincidence.

Wilson posted this on the site John Kerry ran for him, "RestoreHonesty.com":

"I wasn't ready to keep quiet when this President misled the nation in his State of the Union Address..."
-- Joseph Wilson, A Letter from Joe Wilson on John Kerry

But it's clear he was. Or rather it is clear that Wilson only began to rewrite history once he was working for the Kerry campaign. Even if he was an unpaid advisor, he was surely hoping for a plum job in any Kerry administration.

This would explain why Wilson said nothing to Moyers about his doubts in their interview. It also explains why what Wilson now claims doesn't match what he reported back to the CIA, as the 9/11 Commission revealed. Wilson only made it up once he got on the Kerry team.

Please note that no one in the unbiased media have ever asked Wilson or Kerry about this coincidence of timing.

Obviously he received a "Flip Flop" injection form Kerry's personal physician when he went to work in the campaign.

Yep, sometime in May:

"....when he began his jihad against Bush... "

More like when he joined the 'Rat/MSM Jihad on Bush.

I still remember the muffler on the steps of Congress to explain how large the tax cuts were going to be, LOL. We should compile a list of all the mud Daschle and his followers have tried to get to stick to Bush.

Curiouser and curiouser. I'm going to need (and might make) a timeline of all the connections, and lies. For example, that the spouse of one of the reporters was a long-time Clinton supporter.

Mrs. Mathew Cooper is also the daughter of the late Henry Grunwald, who was the managing editor of Time magazine.

He turned it from Luce conservatism to the liberal rag it is today.

Grunwald insisted on putting in Time it's first editorial ever in its fifty years. In that editorial, Grunwald called for Richard Nixon's impeachment or resignation.

The apple (Mandy) didn't fall far from the tree. She and Cooper (who is of course at Time--the Son-In-Law Also Rises) are trying to relive Henry's glory days.

Its long been my belief that the reason Judith Miller has decided to sit in jail is that the source was Wilson.

Though in the last week I've added the possibility it was Kerry or his campaign that leaked the identity of Plame during the '04 campaign to try and make an issue to attack Bush with.

Pure speculation though.

I'm told by a person involved in the Niger caper that more than a year ago the vice president's office asked for an investigation of the uranium deal, so a former U.S. ambassador to Africa was dispatched to Niger. In February 2002, according to someone present at the meetings, that envoy reported to the C.I.A. and State Department that the information was unequivocally wrong and that the documents had been forged.

The envoy reported, for example, that a Niger minister whose signature was on one of the documents had in fact been out of office for more than a decade. In addition, the Niger mining program was structured so that the uranium diversion had been impossible. The envoy's debunking of the forgery was passed around the administration and seemed to be accepted -- except that President Bush and the State Department kept citing it anyway.

CIA Did Not Share Doubt on Iraq Data (washingtonpost.com)
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A46957-2003Jun11?language=printer

"Armed with information purportedly showing that Iraqi officials had been seeking to buy uranium in Niger one or two years earlier, the CIA in early February 2002 dispatched a retired U.S. ambassador to the country to investigate the claims, according to the senior U.S. officials and the former government official, who is familiar with the event. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity and on condition that the name of the former ambassador not be disclosed.

During his trip, the CIA's envoy spoke with the president of Niger and other Niger officials mentioned as being involved in the Iraqi effort, some of whose signatures purportedly appeared on the documents.

After returning to the United States, the envoy reported to the CIA that the uranium-purchase story was false, the sources said. Among the envoy's conclusions was that the documents may have been forged because the "dates were wrong and the names were wrong," the former U.S. government official said.

However, the CIA did not include details of the former ambassador's report and his identity as the source, which would have added to the credibility of his findings, in its intelligence reports that were shared with other government agencies. Instead, the CIA only said that Niger government officials had denied the attempted deal had taken place, a senior administration said.

Ministers Knew War Papers Were Forged, Says Diplomat

Ministers knew war papers were forged, says diplomat
http://psychoanalystsopposewar.org/resources_files/Ministers_knew_war_papers_were_forged,_says_diplomat.htm

A high-ranking American official who investigated claims for the CIA that Iraq was seeking uranium to restart its nuclear programme accused Britain and the US yesterday of deliberately ignoring his findings to make the case for war against Saddam Hussein.

The retired US ambassador said it was all but impossible that British intelligence had not received his report - drawn up by the CIA - which revealed that documents, purporting to show a deal between Iraq and the West African state of Niger, were forgeries.

When he saw similar claims in Britain's dossier on Iraq last September, he even went as far as telling CIA officials that they needed to alert their British counterparts to his investigation. ...

...The former diplomat - who had served as an ambassador in Africa - had been approached by the CIA in February 2002 to carry out a "discreet" task: to investigate if it was possible that Iraq was buying uranium from Niger. He said the CIA had been asked to find out in a direct request from the office of the Vice-President, Dick Cheney.

During eight days in Niger, he discovered it was impossible for Iraq to have been buying the quantities of uranium alleged. "My report was very unequivocal," he said. He also learnt that the signatures of officials vital to any transaction were missing from the documents. On his return, he was debriefed by the CIA.

"In it he said nothing about Yellowcake or Bush's duplicity..." He didn't say anything about Bush's duplicity because he wasn't injected with his own duplicity hormone yet. Not only that, there wasn't any duplicity on Bush's part anyway until he invented it. Good job, Sam Hill.
