Cheney's Chief of Staff Was Another Source for Cooper on Valerie Plame Story By Pete Yost Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - Vice President Dick Cheney's top aide was among the sources for a Time magazine reporter's story about the identity of a CIA officer, the reporter said Sunday.

Until last week, the White House had insisted for nearly two years that vice presidential chief of staff Lewis Libby and presidential adviser Karl Rove were not involved in the leaks of CIA officer Valerie Plame's identity.

The White House refused last week to repeat those assertions when it was revealed that Rove had told Time reporter Matt Cooper that the wife of Bush administration critic Joseph Wilson apparently works at the CIA and that she had authorized his trip to Africa. The CIA dispatched Wilson to check out a report that the government of Niger had sold yellowcake uranium to Iraq for nuclear weapons.

Cooper said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he spoke to Libby after first learning about Wilson's wife from Rove.

According to Cooper, Libby and Rove were among the government officials referred to in Cooper's subsequent Time story that said Wilson's wife was a CIA official and that she was involved in sending her husband on a trip to Africa.

Cooper's article was headlined, "A War on Wilson?"

Every thing Cooper has done in this saga was designed to help one person-- Hillary Rotten Clinton. If he doesn't help her, Mandy would cut him off. Of course, some of us would think that would be a good thing.

Personally, I want Joe Wilson to get prosecuted for his sneaky doings. I think one of the reason the left is getting so shrill and desperate is that they see all arrows pointing to - Joe Wilson!

This still occurred after Novak called Rove and told him about Plame/Wilson. In other words, neither Scooter Libby nor Rove were the source of the "leak", although both appear to have confirmed that Wilson's wife arranged for him to be sent to Africa, and that she worked for the CIA. Since even Plame's own boss admints she was not clandestine, and that even her neighbors knew she worked for the CIA, I am not sure how this constitutes a "leak".

Just more of the MSM trying to build another scandal where none exists.

That graphic forgot to mention Rummy. After all, that wasn't so long ago. Wonder who will be next. Wanna take bets?

The fun doesn't really begin until Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi demand that Bush divorce Laura!

The get Bush mantra will not stop until January 2009 (maybe November 2008).

The thing that cracks me up about this story is that reporters are attacking people because they talk to reporters.

I mean, that's the WHOLE story.

But not just any people--Republican people. You'd think reporters would be pissed that they don't get enough leaks from Republicans, and would be trying to show them they are even-handed. But they are basically telling Republicans "Don't talk to us or you'll be sorry."

If every person accused in the White House spoke to reporters on this story, no one would know Valerie Plame's name.

It was when reporters published it that she was 'outed" as they falsely call it.

Judith Miller never even got that far, yet she is in jail. Considering her past of blowing an impending FBI investigation into what was thought to be a terrorist fundraising scheme, I have to wonder if Fitzgerald isn't actually going somewhere else in this investigation, while the press are focused only on the Rove angle.
