Victor Davis Hanson on with Hugh Hewitt this past Thursday said that American politics today resembles the politics of Rome in its latter days -- too many politicians motivated by vindictiveness rather than the welfare of the republic.

This if the best example of what we've seen particulary ever since the Clintons got into big time politics. Besides vindictiveness add fixation with celebrityism and viewing themselves as celebrities instead of "servants" of the public (tax payer funded).
