Much ado from people who are scared of a reform Blackwell governorship with heads spinning and rolling.

You are absolutely right. No one is thinking the race is over, and everyone in the Blackwell camp is VERY concerned with the big money people behind the establishment candidates. I just hope they chew each other up, siphoning off enough money that Ken can get in, in which case he'll clear Springer's clock in the general.

"Heads would spin and cronyism would be ended. It would be a total do-over, and you can bet that Democrats would be involved in the government and in the solutions."

I'm all for heads rolling and new tones, but bringing liberals into your administration doesn't sound like a very good idea to me.

Blackwell has been getting plenty of free airtime on Salem stations in Columbus and Cincy recently. With that freeby, he don't need a lot of $$$. Frankly, I think Salem is dangerously close to violating campaign laws. They had Blackwell filling in for one of their hosts within the last two weeks.

Kasich promises to bring Rats into the government if he's elected. Can someone explain this to me? Is there a smart strategy here, or is he just a typical Republican nice-guy milquetoast?

I heard Kasich speak a couple of years back. This was after he was out of Congress.

One of the things he complained about was the atmosphere in Washington. He specifically mentioned the new Republicans after 1994 who he said refused to talk to any Democrat at all in Washington. Kasich mentioned he had friends across the aisle and that he tried to work with them and maintain a cordial relationship with them.

I find nothing wrong with trying to be friendly and trying to work with people. That's fine. However, the Democrats in Ohio have shown it's all about power. There is no working with Republicans in their opinion, and Kasich needs to understand that. These folks in the General Assembly are mostly the new Sherrod Brown, Marcy Kaptur, Stephanie Tubbs Jones, and Dennis Kucinich. One of the Democrat gubernatorial candidates, Columbus Mayor Mike "Don't Question My Manhood" Coleman called President Bush a "virus" during the campaign last year. Kasich needs to understand this. Remember in 2000 when George W. Bush said he wanted to change the tone in Washington. All the Democrats have done is block, deny, and filibuster. They have compared him to Hitler, called him a miserable failure, and a virus.

I have lived in Columbus my whole life and I like John Kasich a lot. He always was a leader for this area and he took no crap. He stood for this area and stood for what he believed in. Many people, myself included, have a tremendous amount of respect for the guy.

I believe he is wrong when he thinks he can work with Democrats. Maybe he can prove me wrong. I wish the best to him.

If he doesn't understand the Rats in his own state by now, I wouldn't want him to be governor.

From my perspective Ohio is dangerously close to flipping to the Democrats with the corruption through the party, as well as Taft, DeWine and Voinovich as the face of the national representation from Ohio.

I think you've hit it. There will probably be a sweeping change and general housecleaning in the next election cycle. If the 'Rats run Strickland, he'd probably be the favorite at this point.

The papers seem to print a new scandal story every day. There is just scandal on top of scandal with the current Republican administration. That has many, many people disgusted. People I talk to every day who are generally inclined to vote Republican are pretty fed up. I'm not sure they'd do any better with the 'Rats, and probably get higher taxes to boot, but any more the sentiment seems to be Anybody But The Republican.

This bodes ill for the '08 presidential race. The 'Rats can count to 270. They've seen the pattern of the last two presidential elections. They know all they need to do is flip either OH, FL, or IN to win the White House. Of those, I'd say OH is most in play. FL may be problematic with Jeb stepping down. IN is a long shot for the 'Rats but it could happen if Bayh is on the ticket.
