The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence's Report on the U.S. Intelligence Community's Prewar Assessments on Iraq is intended to provide the Senate and the American public with a substantial record of the facts underlying the conclusions of the Committee regarding the intelligence community's prewar assessments of Iraq's programs for weapons of mass destruction and its ties to terrorism.
The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence oversees and makes continuing studies of the intelligence activities and programs of the United States Government, and reports to the Senate about those activities. Pursuant to this duty, for the past year the Committee has undertaken an in-depth examination of the matters described in the report.

Section II is a PDF file dealing specifically with the Niger issue. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I imagine this is where it deals with Wilson's lies.
This report gives the details of how Wilson's trip did not change the assessment that led to the "16 words".

Some "folks" are also overlooking the fact that for the original story that started all this, Bob Novack said he called the CIA and they (someone there...attention libs-call for their names from grand jury investigation please!) confirmed that Plame was an employee.
He did say the CIA employment verifier asked him not to use her name.....which he did anyway because, as he said, they didn't make it sound like it was any big deal. Also, Novack is the one who bestowed the ominously grandiose title of "operative" on Valerie Plame, which has duly impressed the libs.

I really can't fault Plame for trying to get her hubby a cushy assignment---but they're making it like she had some big ol' secret position at the CIA....as if she were a 007.

We conclude that, on the basis of the intelligence assessments at the time, covering both Niger and the Democratic Republic of Congo, the statements on Iraqi attempts to buy uranium from Africa in the government's dossier, and by extension the prime minister in the House of Commons, were well founded. By extension, we conclude also that the statement in President Bush's state of the union address of 2003 that "the British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa" was well founded. And...
Even now it would be premature to reach conclusions about Iraq's prohibited weapons. Much potential evidence may have been destroyed in the looting and disorder that followed the cessation of hostilities. Other material may be hidden in the sand, including stocks of agent or weapons. We believe that it would be a rash person who asserted at this stage that evidence of Iraqi possession of stocks of biological or chemical agents, or even of banned missiles, does not exist or will never be found. But as a result of our review, and taking into account the evidence which has been found by the ISG and debriefing of Iraqi personnel, we have reached the conclusion that prior to the war the Iraqi regime:
a) Had the strategic intention of resuming the pursuit of prohibited weapons programmes, including if possible its nuclear weapons programme, when UN inspection regimes were relaxed and sanctions were eroded or lifted.
b) In support of that goal, was carrying out illicit research and development, and procurement, activities, to seek to sustain its indigenous capabilities.
c) Was developing ballistic missiles with a range longer than permitted under relevant United Nations security council resolutions, but did not have significant - if any - stocks of chemical or biological weapons in a state fit for deployment, or developed plans for using them.

It is made very clear that V.Plame suggested her husband, and it even says he was debriefed after his trip, in their own home. She was there, at the time of debriefing,but says she was only acting as a hostess.
Having lived for a number of years in the DC/Metro area I can assure you of one thing: Covert agents don't live and work there. There are people with classified positions, but that is a far cry from being a "covert agent."
I've had several neighbors and friends who worked in classified positions - both military and civilian - at NSA, the Pentagon, CIA, FBI and even the White House and Secret Service Presidential Protection. It's no big deal to people who live there.
I think this is all a big to do about NOTHIN'!
