When those individuals heard the distinct accent of my wife, my stepdaughter, and myself, it seemed to conjure up that redneck image one might associate with the humor of Jeff Foxworthy and other Southern comedians.

Wasn't that "ignorant redneck" Foxworthy actually an accountant?

I grew up in Michigan. Moved down to TX with my spouse (who grew up in TX and TN).

After we moved, I spent about 10 minutes correcting my friends' misconceptions about TX and then I figured, heck, why tell them how great it is? I'd hate to see a great thing ruined!

I miss some things about MI, but added together they can't compensate for the awesome quality of life we have here. The people are amazing -- they treat each other the way they should. Our neighbors were very welcoming, and would give us the shirts off of their backs.

I think the biggest difference between TX & MI is that children are truly seen as blessings and TX is incredibly family-friendly. Also, everyone's just so much happier here.

Texans are the most friendly, honest, laid-back, down-to-earth, smart, no-nonsense, practical, and real people I've ever met. (At least here in the Austin area, and if you discount the insane libs.)

...and if I had to move out of state, I hope it would be to TN!

You are right. I've been through Texas a few times and my normal vacation routine is NOT to have a plan...I much prefer to just wing it.

On more than one occasion...I'd pull over in a parking lot somewhere and hop off my bike and bystanders noticing my out of state plate would immediately come up and ask me if I needed assistance. I almost always get a good "vibe" in
Texas.

Texas BTTT.

No that was Bob Newhart. Foxworthy is a ramblin' wreck from Georgia Tech and worked for IBM for 5 years before breaking into standup.

By all means, discount the insane liberals -- they certainly do!
