You are correct, the sewing machine was the culprit.........it's a portable and was in the case on the floor and I tripped over it.

I don't need my ankle to tell me about approaching hurricanes or any other weather problems - my arm does that already and has ever since I dislocated my shoulder and collar bone while shovelling during the February 2003 blizzard.

Unfortunately I am in a great deal of pain, again due to my own clumsiness - I lost my balance last night on the crutches and banged it real hard - I don't have a full cast on it, just what is called a splint, a plaster cast that is only on the back of my leg and semi-supporting the ankle. I really thought I was oging to the orthopedist today to get a real cast put on - no such luck. I'm now sceduled for surgery Friday morning to put a plate in there to fix the damage. What fun.

Oh well - enough of my pity party - let us return to our regularly scheduled pain in the tuchus tropical problem........

Ouch. My wife did this last July. Jumped out of bed to answer the phone (wrong number) and her ankle just flopped over. Break.

Didn't realize what happened when she fell so she stood up. No support so the ankle flopped the other way. Break.

Had surgery two days later for a plate and 8 screws. Even the doctor was impressed with the job she did on it.

She never got a cast either and was driving again about 7 weeks after it happened. But she was in some serious pain there for awhile.

Here's hoping Emily gives Texas some rain!

Good luck with the surgery tomorrow. Hope the pain will abate soon. Drink milk.

I'll tell my wife to be careful with her portable. Although her machine's usual attempt at mischief is its habit of sitting on a random table with its power wire suspended at just below knee level, out of sight, between itself and the wall socket.

I broke my ankle in 3 places in my 20's. For years I could feel approaching cold fronts and thunderstorms, but I have finally lost that ability. I wonder if that means it takes years for these things to heal completely.
