BC, based on that article, the only sufficient U.S. response to such an attack would be the utter devastation of every country that has proven itself to be a source of terrorist education and funding: Syria, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia... to start.
And if the attacks do occur, I doubt there would be much opposition to such an action.
Cool heads are gonna be far and few between if something like that happens though.
Slowboat, I have to agree with this 100%. But we should use neutrons and keep the gas. We'll be needing it more than anybody else to get back on our feet.
If that were to happen (a nuclear response by us) I also very much doubt if the Islamist extremeist nations would even care. The EU would be furious (who cares?) and the French would surrender (as if anybody would notice that).

And do you also think its just coincidental that China and Russia are presently massing forces in the Pacific theatre for unprecedented 'joint exercises' involving their Pactifc fleets and long-range aircraft in of all places, Vladivostok [read: principal Soviet-era sub base and planning center]??
No one seemed too excited about a nuclear attack on 8/06 when I mentioned it several weeks ago. I must be losing my touch...
