Not exactly.
Tranvestites wear the clothing of the opposite sex. Male transvestites "dress up" in women's clothing, and female transvestites "dress up" in men's clothing.
Transgendered, or tran-sexual, people are people who, as I understand the term, have changed from one sex to another. Men who have "had the operation", and are now females, or women who have "had the operation" and are now males. The term sometimes also refers to people who are in the process of changing from one sex to the other.
And it can also be used to refer to people who are "women 'trapped' in men's bodies or "men 'trapped' in women's bodies" -- those people who have not even begun the process of changing from one sex to the other, but who have serious "issues" with being a man or a woman.
Okay. Thank you for clearing that up.
BTW, I already knew the definitions of "transvestite" and "transsexual", but, I am annoyed that the homoxexual movement has tried to highjack yet another word. The word "gender" is a grammatical term, not a biological one.
