You're a former executive at Verizon. Would it be fair to describe you as the first president in the 96-year history of the N.A.A.C.P. with no experience in civil rights?

No. Not at all. I feel that my civil rights activities have been in the economic arena, where people get jobs.

The last role I had at Verizon was president of the retail-markets group. I also managed corporate advertising and brand management. I spent a lot of my career at Verizon going out and acquiring customers. I think that some of the same marketing techniques I used there I can use at the N.A.A.C.P.

I'll believe it when they stop acting like the field slave overseer for the 'Rat plantation.

Dunno. The NAACP will be 100% behind their plantation owner, Hillary Clinton, in '08, and will be once again accusing the Republicans of burning down black churches and forcing Robert Byrd to join the KKK.

Think I'll have an after dinner taste and enjoy a replay of Sheet's White N Speech.

The History channel had a show on today about the origin and history of the kkk, I'll bet old "Sheets" was watching fondly.

Until blacks show some willingness to deal with the Republicans, the Democrats will continue to take them for granted. The NAACP used to be a fairly conservative organization, but Mfume took it way to the left. Let's hope they learned their lesson.

"Until blacks show some willingness to deal with the Republicans..."

Colin Powell isn't willing? Leeza Rice?

There is no monolithic "black community" or "black people". Each person has different ideas, and different goals. In that way they are like white folk, or green people, or... etc.

As more people with black skin join the middle class, and have wealth and pay taxes, the more they will join the GOP. The more the Dems hug gays and promote millions of scrambled black babies in abortion clinics the more they'll join the GOP.
