Left Tries Scare Tactics over Court Vacancy - (Rush dealt with Boxer's remarks this week)

Sen. Barbara Boxer says women will die President Bush nominates a pro-life judge to the Supreme Court.

Five thousand women a year will die if President Bush nominates a pro-life judge to the Supreme Court — that's the claim of liberal U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif. And it's just a sample of the ramped-up rhetoric you can expect as Bush prepares to nominate a replacement for the retiring Sandra Day O'Connor.

Douglas Johnson, legislative director for the National Right to Life Committee, said Boxer's claim of 5,000 deaths, made to an Associated Press reporter, pure fantasy.

"Senator Boxer's reliance on such an urban legend doesn't do her any credit," he said. "Dr. Bernard Nathanson, who was one of the three founders the National Abortion Rights Action League, wrote a book some years ago in which he admitted he and the other early founders of NARAL had fabricated this figure."

Serrin Foster, president of Feminists for Life of America, said she wonders who's doing the senator's fact-checking.

"Whoever the staffer was that fed her this erroneous, unsubstantiated number needs to be fired," she said, "and Barbara Boxer needs to make a retraction."

Carrie Gordon-Earll, senior analyst for bioethics at Focus on the Family Action, said it's no surprise that the pro-abortion community is using Roe v. Wade as a panic button.

"There are no statistics to back up that type of inflammatory statement," she noted. "Very clearly, Senator Boxer is doing this to try to scare people into supporting a more liberal justice to the Supreme Court.

"If and when the court overturns Roe v. Wade, that merely sends . . . the abortion issue back to the states. It doesn't make abortion illegal in all 50 states."

Boxer: "Five thousand women a year will die if President Bush nominates a pro-life judge to the Supreme Court."

Has Boxer noticed the millions of unborn citizens who have been slaughtered since Roe v. Wade became the law of the land?

That's just what I was going to write. Doesn't Boxer realize the irony of her statement?

Sen. Barbara Boxer says women will die President Bush nominates a pro-life judge to the Supreme Court.

Pro life = death.

What goes on in the synapses of these socialists that leads them to always arrive at the wrong conclusion?

How do they ignore the millions of deaths causes by the pro death position??.....oops, I meant pro choice of course.

Dr. Nathanson's expose has been extensively linked on FR a while back. Very good reading.

His book was one of the things that converted me from the pro-abort position.

As I recall, there was an article by him, along with some links that supported his position and the general pro life position, also.

Later on, I'll try some key words and search to find the thread.

Also the most successful criminal in California history. More that 400 bad checks, not a day in jail and promoted from congress to the senate.

"Senator Boxer's reliance on such an urban legend doesn't do her any credit,"

Can her reputation get any lower?

'...Barbara Boxer needs to make a retraction."

Yeah. That'll happen.

Vitriolic hatred does not recognize irony. That would require some sort of reflection. They have no time to reflect. They are on a mission to destroy, they will simply rewrite truth if they ever conquer.

"Very clearly, Senator Boxer is doing this to try to scare people into supporting a more liberal justice to the Supreme Court."

For STARTERS it's the PRESIDENT who gets to pick BECAUSE HE WON! Special interest groups, and everyday people really have no say in the matter, lest we come from states that have Senators and Congresscritters that actually abide by and support what we believe in. (Sadly, I do not fall amongst those lucky few; I have Kohl, Baldwin & Feingold "representin'" me. Barf!)

Secondly, when you have no platform other than one of death and destruction to children and the nuclear family, I guess ya gotta beat the sheeple over the head with scare tactics.

I can't remember a time in my relatively short history when Liberal/Progressive/Socialist/Democrats were more repugnant to me. Maybe I'm just paying too much attention to them these days when what they need is to just be swatted away like flies on the picnic potato salad?

Is it about 43 million they've murdered in the past 30 years or better? At least HALF or more were "potential" women. That means BB and her gang have aided the slaughter of 22.5 million women....most of who would be active, productive citizens; paying taxes to support her sorry rear-end. /rant

Boxer hails from the uber-leftist area of Marin County. Moonbats of every variety thrive in Marin County. That Boxer relies upon the hyped lies of pro-abortionists -- lies that have been refuted many times -- is only par for the course for convictions held by the average Marin County resident. What makes a bit of information "true" isn't it's inherent connection to reality, but how hysterically a prominent leftist can shout it from the pages of the San Francisco Chronicle, or from some KGO radio talk show.

Barbara Boxer has been a shrieking nitwit her entire political career, and it reflects very badly upon the voters of California that she hasn't been thrown out with the rest of the trash in this state.

If anyone has the transcript from Rush's excellent slam of Boxer, please post it here. Also, his answer to the gentle lib caller in the same hour was equally as fine.

Whoops, that was Rush's putdown of her remarks on the WOT. Still, I'd like to read how he handled Boxer's misstatements about the left's WOL.

Another point....If indeed (as most of us hope and expect) Roe v. Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court, all that will happen is that regulation of abortion procedures will be turned back to the states, where they were over 30 years ago before Roe v. Wade. California, Boxer's home state, had one of the most liberal abortion laws in the nation before the Supreme Court yanked the jurisdiction over this procedure from the states. Hence, if Roe v. Wade is repealed, it will have virtually no effect on the availability and practice of abortion in California.

Now, either Barbara Boxer is too stupid to recognize this fact, or she does realize it but she's hysterically lying in order to whip her base into a froth. She's capable of either possibility.
