I'm not medical, but my first thought was a burn mask, too. Maybe burn masks are available to emergency personnel in the field as they transport people to the hospital.

Yes..FYI..that's a burn mask....try to keep the area sterile if possible..treatment is to, at the site, when the victim has facial burns, gently wash the area with sterile solution, wet the burn mask, and apply to the face....if there is a delay in getting to treatment, it may impede soime infection, but the bniggest impact is psychological..patients with facial burns have an almost irresistable urge to touch the burned area...thi mask keeps them form doing so...
Question....if you have a chance..I read somewheres that after the first bombs went off, cell phone service in the area was cut off..to prevent the terrorists from detonating any more bombs by ohone....can you confirm if this is true...and if so, what was the general reaction of those on the ground when their cell phones were useless.. have people been told this will happen?.and how long before it was restored..
