Syphilis, gonorrhea and chlamydia are all curable, but they can be painful and, if not treated promptly, can cause long-term damage. And having a sexually transmitted disease makes it much easier to contract or transmit HIV. sounds like a self correcting problem.

If you ask a liberal they will tell you the pressure and psychological trauma of being gay in a Red State forces these men to have anonymous, drug-fueled sex in rest stop bathroom stalls. Seems like alcoholism would be easier.

sounds like a self correcting problem. Not really, lots of married men have gay sex outside of marriage and spread diseases to the unknowing spouse, these diseases won't stay in the gay community.
