There's no way in hell the Selectmen would approve building a hotel in an area zone residential. The idiot that's spearheading this "idea" should take a trip to New Hampshire to assess other posibilities such as a B & B. The dude all show.

Relax a bit, it's certainly worth the effort to try and in the meantime this 'project' is pushing public awareness to new highs on the issue of eminent domain and the erosion of our "property rights".
Chill out and let Logan run... it will be fun to see how far this goes..
Cheers,
Lloyd

Then "redevelop" the rest of the neighborhood as well. Wasting all that land on single family residences is a travesty, when there is money to be made, and taxes collected.
Economic Redevelopment uber alles!
Maybe we could help out Africa at the same time, by hiring Robert Mugabe as a consultant.

There's no way in hell the Selectmen would approve building a hotel in an area zone residential. Zoning can be changed, however it would probably be difficult. A B&B is a good idea, but it would be hard to argue that it would bring significantly more tax revenue to the town. Unless of course the Selectmen are already motivated to go along with the project. Unlikely since local governments are the biggest beneficiaries, at least for now, of this unconstitutional "taking".

There's no way in hell the Selectmen would approve building a hotel in an area zone residential. Tell that to Mr. Kelo.

There's no way in hell the Selectmen would approve building a hotel in an area zone residentialThey would if a cousin were involved, unless they're a really unique board of selectmen.
This is absolutely BRILLIANT for exposing the horrors of this Supreme Court decision. I haven't seen anything so clever since Hillary stiffed the waitress, and we all sent Trish a tip.
This is the kind of thing it's going to take to institute change...humor, guts, and intelligence.

You can apply for a spot rezone or a variance in zoning.
Happens all the time.

There's no way in hell the Selectmen would approve building a hotel in an area zone residential. You are correct. It's not impossible, but it is highly unlikely. A much better plan would be to find a urban area where city hall is located in a slightly blighted area and create a redevelopment zone. Once that's done it is far simpler to rezone for commercial.

I believe its called "making a statement," Mr. Know-it-all-political-realist-guru-FR-policeman. But what would you care, other than it being an opportunity for flame?
Oh, if only they'd consulted you first.
