""One never recognizes the worth of the anchor until he has experienced the fury of the storm. Only those who have gone through deep waters and bitter trials can know the comfort and reassurance that the Lord lovingly bestows in those hours of darkness when we seek His aid and cry for relief. Truly the peace of God that then floods our soul passes all understanding.""

In the midst of all storms, He indeed is our "Life Preserver"!!

Hey, there, Connie! Good to see you here. Isn't it fun? These hostesses work so hard to make it a beautiful, peaceful place to come to! Did you see my tribute to the troops on #54. These are the wonderful people who taught me to do that!

thanks for wonderful graphic! and thanks for stopping by. I was going to watch The Patriot tonight, but am pretty sleepy. For sure over the week-end. I did use your band's music for my Power Point at church for Memorial day. It sounded so majestic over the quality sound system as opposed to my sorry "set up". Thank you.... the gift that continues to give!

All .. tuba guy is retired CAREER military..was (guess what instrument?) player in one of the top Army bands...

Love that Hot link.. I have a VERY small representation of it in the one collage towards end of the post.. There were so many men and women who sacrificed and were "players" for various reasons and for various agendas during those formative years. There are many areas of history of which I wish to know more. This is definitely one of them. Hear it is pretty HOT in your little corner of the world.

The Spafford story is one I learned in seminary. (it was a bit different) I have used it often in funerals & when doing sermon's on overcoming the "bumps" of life.. (and not the good FR BUMPS!). My brother & I chose it for our dad's funeral & I have written it into my funeral/memorial service.

I am NOT a musician but to me the music is simple & "catchy". Whenever I hear it or it is sung in church, it is one that stays in my head & I find myself humming it.

Thanks so much for posting this ms Dixie. Times of holidays can be fun but they can also be very stressful & sometimes we get so busy in the woods we forget to look at the individual tree. A story like this is good for the big picture. There would not have been a revolution hundreds of years ago if everyone was so self absorbed in their own problems & let personal pity parties take precedence over comfort from God & looking to "what I can do to improve someone else's situation.

do you live near the GG? so many movies have sceenes around these areas.. well perhaps there are many spots of seclusion/no developemtnt where the movies can be shot...always appears to be the same spot.

you do Karaoke?...do you participate? DJ? watch?

have fun/safe time over the holiday. Mine will be relatively low key . A few things going on but no big trips etc.

Since you are doing more experimenting let me share w/you (and any one else interested) in my fairly successful experiment.

The patriotic border on my post is a shot I took digitally of Oliver's scarf !!! I reduced size/pixel to about 600 X 200 & downloaded to server. I then subbed the URL into one of the "table" spots. I have taken about 20 more different backgrounds that I intend to try.

Just have not taken the time to size, download etc.

I also have background type pix that I have taken for several years. sand, seashells, clouds, leaves on ground, rain..etc. .knowing there must be a way to eventually use them. And NOW I KNOW THE WAY thanks to experiments .. thanks to the fine ladies who are so helpful here & encourage you to experiment and be bold.

What a great thread you've done here!! Thank you!! I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July and will celebrate the freedoms that our troops, past, present and future, have fought, and will fight to preserve. God Bless them all! The wisdom that our Founding Fathers had still leaves me in awe! God Bless our wonderful nation and as my 5th great grandfather said, when the Declaration of Independence was read for the first time:

"God Save the Free and Independent States of America"!!!

Good Morning Everyone

Get out those favorite recipes, favorite picnic ideas, and ESPECIALLY favorite ideas for making the weekend be emphasized for what we know to be true -

-- the value of liberty,
-- the value of our great nation,
-- and gratitude to those who gave so much to make it happen

Some Saturday Morning Food for Thought

"Posterity -- you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it." -- John Quincy Adams

Samuel Adams advised: "It does not take a majority to prevail...but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."

"[T]he flames kindled on the 4th of July 1776, have spread over too much of the globe to be extinguished by the feeble engines of despotism; on the contrary, they will consume these engines and all who work them." --Thomas Jefferson

and do share Nicollo's wonderful message as a fourth of July greeting to your friends.. make sure you give him credit & reference his web page given in body of thread!
