Noriega had his "Dignity Battalions", and they weren't worth a crap. Most of them were government workers forced to join our lose their jobs. A lot of them were common criminals he turned loose from the jails and armed. These are the ones who caused most of the deaths and destroyed large parts of Panama City.

If these "militias" ever faced the full might of the American military they would shit their pants.

I don't know that any enemy since WW2 has ever faced "the full might of the American military", rather than enough might of the bits that were arrayed against it to prevail.

I think a US infantry/armor task force would cause these militias the poop-pants interface you describe.
