Why am I not surprised. Byrd and Rockefeller as 'nays.'
The State became 'red' the past 2 Presidential elections, but we can't seem to dump our 'good Senators'. Shameful....
Indiana is Red except for 5 counties and we couldn't find a candidate to take Bayh out! So I understand. It's so frustrating!
Hardball w/o Chrissy tonight was all about Bolton and the Downing Street Memos...
I think the Downing Street Memos is taking what little time these news stations want to use for "Capital Hill News"---
Too many of these boring old Senate stories will run away viewers to the "Reality shows" that aren't reality on the networks...
David Gregory that substituted for Chrissy tonight had on Babs and George Allen debating the Bolton non-cloture...
and he had an "exclusive" with the Mike Smith reporter in London that "transcribed" the memos, then shredded the originals...so the left can claim all of the theories and this guy can say yeah, that's what happened but darn, I shredded that particular memo!
blech...
I was MIGHTY disappointed that none of the Republicans said anything on the Senate floor today---if they HAD, chances are the news channels would have HAD to bring up the Durbin disaster.
Frist put the obstructionists on record with this vote. It's out there loud and clear for all to see.
Re Frist: Some folks around here swear by him, some swear at him. I prefer vertebrates, myself.
That's real catchy. Too bad it lacks substance.
I like your style, I support our ML he did what he had to do, the President can now make his case about Bolton to the American public. We still win.
"Yes, I know that Bush will probably appoint him during recess, but Bolton does NOT have the consent of the US Senate behind him. That won't faze Bolton but it will give some ammo to other countries to use against him."
Well, BFD the 'ammo' is American liberal dont want a stand-up man at the UN.
Here's reality: Bolton will be a huge success and will embarrass everyone who voted against him.
"They are happy that the US rep to the UN will be weak."
Dems can hope for that outcome, but will be disappointed.
Their obstructionism will cost them in 2006.
Maybe it is only you- Are you depending on MSM as your only source of news? ( Apparently not- you are on FR ), however, Hannity had it on, and I believe Rush did too. I IGNORE MSM now- they are not only clueless, They are actively attempting to malign this country, our principals, our military, our safety and our sovereignty, and subvert our mission in the war on terror, with the active help of the Dem Traitors.
Maybe an incremental gain - it depends on how the public and the Senate take executive action.
If I was president Bush, I would not recess appoint anybody over the Independence Day recess. I would wait until August, the summer recess. The Senate still ahs Bolton and a handful of Circuit Court nominations on its plate. The Circuit Court nominees are Boyle, Haynes, Nielson, Saad and Kavanaugh (still in committee) and Myers, on the Senate's Executive Calendar.
But under Rule XXXI, all nominations are returned to the president on the event of a recess of 30 or more days.
When the Senate shall adjourn or take a recess for more than thirty days, all motions to reconsider a vote upon a nomination which has been confirmed or rejected by the Senate, which shall be pending at the time of taking such adjournment or recess, shall fall; and the Secretary shall return all such nominations to the President as confirmed or rejected by the Senate, as the case may be.
At that point, the president will have given the Senate FULL opportunity to act. Meanwhile, he can express disappointment, and urge them to act. In effect, apply pressure to the Senate and NOT take the matter out of the Senate's hands prematurely.
You are thinking rationally and logically I am, thinking about sticking that nomination somewhere uncomfortable for the Democrats! :) I think you are correct.
Oops - wrong paragraph lifted from Rule XXXI - correction below.

Me too - but better to wait for it to grow into a watermellon. Much more uncomfortable full grown than as a seed.
ROFLOL, You are right again!
