Is there any chance we can get his army buddies on record and ask them what Casey thought about the war?

I'm betting he would be ashamed of his mother right now.

Excellent comparison with MADD, Will.

It's as if she, as the mother of a son lost to a drunk driver, is taking vengeance on the policeman who is trying to stop the drunks.

Great article!

From what I have read of her son, he would be ashamed of his own mother.

More than a few I have known joined the military at a young age as a way out of a bad home life... For some, the army is the only mother they ever had...

Sometimes, it's good when the apple falls far from the tree.

Or maybe a mother is in deep mourning for her fallen son and it has become more difficult to bear as she sees policies that make no sense for the purported aims.

I don't doubt her tears are legitimate.

I just think she has cracked up.

Somebody can be sincere and also have fallen down at the same time: they are not mutually exclusive.

In the early 90s -- on cyber posting boards -- it was always Liberals who ranted "YOU DON"T GET IT". It was boring then, it's boring now. It's cheap.

If your son VOLUNTEREED to help someone in a business venture and it turns out that that person LIED and your son ended up in prison for his involvement ... would you respect your son's decision and judgment or would you confront the person who got him imprisoned?

First off, my grown children have this very odd habit of discussing decision-making habits of theirs with .. me. I lay out the risks and odds. We do the research together. And if something bad does happen -- I don't blame others. Nor do my children.

Second your assumption lays in thick that this war is wrong. I think you are entirely incorrect, here. This war has been building towards a head since the 70s. It's about damned time America dealt with it.

Third, Cindy Sheehan's son had already been "in" for four (4) years. He knew exactly what he was getting into. He knew exactly what he thought of this war. And he thought it was the right thing to do -- so much, that he re-enlisted.

Pal, you want me to see this from Cindy's perspective. I can't.

I can, however, ABSOLUTELY share grief and sympathy with her over her son being murdered. For her to experience this prolonged and dramatic hissyfit publically in order to blame EVERYONE ELSE (Bush Admin, specifically) -- is such vile cowardice and immaturity. On the "humanity side" -- I hurt for Cindy Sheehan. She needs to get out of the push/pull of politics, and pull her grief together and get tracked into a process of healing and acceptance.

She couldn't control her son. Her son was a man. He made decisions directing his life that she disagreed with.

She couldn't stop him; she couldn't control him.

IMHO, she is now perfecting the equivalent of a metaphysic abortion on her son. She's still thinking she has some kind of control over her son -- and is using this static energy to play pink politics.

Yes, I hurt for her -- she's emotionally tracked in a dark place from which she may never recover, never understand, and not have peace with her son, and his passing.

I'm sure she has a lot of "If Only I had"isms... and she's using this to blame President Bush and the Admin -- for her son's death. This is folly.

And it is insulting to parents of military throughout the US. Her behavior, her words are insulting. And I'll tell you why:

Every parent of an active duty deployed, in their dark moments -- wishes this war had never happened on their "child's watch". This is normal and natural.

Cindy and her ghoulish groupies are manipulating this in hopes they can bring in voters to an "anti-Republican" agenda.

Do you realize how sick this is? Hardly ever is her son mentioned. It's about her. It's about her "group's political goals".

This is sick, deranged behavior, IMHO. It is macabre, ghoulish, and grotesque.
