I agree. It's not a problem. Just because the kids are citizens we aren't going to try and keep them here are we.

The cost of some items would rise. So would the wages and benefits in pursuit of labor. Some industries would be forced to modernize, for example, raisins are hand dried in the US (cheap labor ) and machine dried in Australia.

We can't keep importing cheap labor forever without the consequences catching up to us.

You are both mistaken and unnecessarily crude.

"Cheney said that our military was not properly trained to patrol our border and that it was not part of their mission...

"THE MILITARY IS NOT TRAINED TO REPEL FOREIGN INVASIONS???"

No, they're not trained to enforce immigration law...which is exactly what Cheney said.

I support making English the official language of the United States. Furthermore, I support revoking the citizenship any adult who doesn't understand it and throwing them out of the country. C-ya!

"Just because the kids are citizens we aren't going to try and keep them here are we."

Some putatively "pro-life" folks I've met would support retroactive abortion as long as the abortee is of illegal immigrant parents.

The economy would get better.

1. The job availability would be there for kids (who used to do these jobs) -- IIRC teenage unemployment in the inner city is 20-25%

2. There would be a general rise in wages, which would seem inflationary EXCEPT:

3. There would be an almost instant windfall to the tune of soemthing like 8 BILLION a single year in California ALONE. Taxes would have to be cut (we need to keep Arnold around) and the net difference would be put in our pockets.
Lower taxes tend to keep inflation down (in a strange way).

Nearly one-third of families headed by illegal aliens have children who are U.S. citizens

1. Why do we have a law that says that any baby born here is automatically a citizen, even if the parents are illegal immigrants?

2. Why is there no movement to change this law?

"Now, we have legal and illegal folks doing those jobs. For the sake of discussion, they all leave. Now what happens to the economy and those jobs?"

The businesses involved would hire American citizens or legal immigrants or become more efficient so as not to need those people. The notion that there are "jobs Americans won't do", so we have to legitimize illegal immigrants is bullshit.

I would bet that the net effect of illegals on the overall economy is actually negative (cost in extra taxes to pay for "social services, loss of "multiplier effect dollars" on the BILLIONS of dollars that they send back to the home country instead of those dollars remaining in the USA and recycling in the local economy, and so forth). The specific business that hires the illegals might actually save a bit on wages, but the total economy suffers a loss.

That just shows us how crazy Americans are getting over it!

I think they are eating fertility pills the whole time they are crossing the desert.

I can't wait to hear Tancredo's running for President.
This issue has more bi-partisan support than any other and
our leaders had better take notice. We aren't going to accept any thing that even smells like amnesty.

I'm sure V.P Cheney remembers Operation Wetback (1953-54).
The border patrol, state police, local police etc.. got them out of the US then.

"I think they are eating fertility pills the whole time they are crossing the desert."

No, Americans are so ruthlessly aborting the next generation that people having babies has been made into a mark of shame, and so-called "conservatives" have bought the notion.

"I can't wait to hear Tancredo's running for President."

Yes, President Buchanan won in 1996 and 2000 campaigning on exactly this issue.

"Serious answers only, please."

1. Boot illegals out. (Cut Bennies...etc...and they will "self deport" in 90 days with no work. This will only work if our government actually enforces the existing laws on the books.

2. Let the employers advertise in help wanted sections (like any legitimate business owner does)...paying fair market wages on the books.

3. If positions go unfilled by US citizens or legal residents then let "migrant workers" apply for these jobs from their respective countries. If they "lose their jobs" here....they have 30 days to either get a new job or leave the country. No welfare, No Shamnesty.

4. Government needs to crack down in a very serious manner on scumbag tax cheats who hire illegals. Scumbag employers who hire illegals have an unfair advantage over those legitimate business owners who actually take the time to obey the laws.

We can put a man on the moon, and we can't do this?

We have no right trying to set up a half-assed government in Iraq if we can not even protect our own sovereignty here at home.

Feel free to spend your own money to take care of them and their illegal parents then. Leave my wallet alone.

Brilliant.
You made an excellent point.

Thank you.

I read yesterday that each one of them costs the AMerican taxpayers $55,000.00 Multiply that by the millions in this country. Now, think where we could spend that money on our own people.

I doubt that any given business is so heavily reliant on illegal workers that it would 'collapse' in their absence, and if any business is so heavily reliant on illegal workers then it should be shut down as a criminal enterprise anyhow. (My emphasis)

I am in complete agreement and those businesses relying on illegal workers would be equivalent to a retailer selling stolen merchandise. In both cases they should be shut down.

As the labor pool slowly dries up new people have the chance for these jobs. Young Americans who dont currently work,.................. (My emphasis)

It wasn't but a few years ago when I could drive past construction sites and see young college age youngsters working on homes, roads and operating lawn care equipment (our property had a contract with a service that had almost an all girl crew :-) ). Now all I see are mostly Hispanics and the kids who once could earn part of their college tuition are now forced to take out larger student loans or deplete mom & dad's savings even more.
