The scariness of this is that if we don't defeat the democRATs this is what our children will be facing.

America should pay close attention to Europe's decline. It has little to do with faith or athiesm, social conservatism or liberalism. It has to do with immigration. European countries that once had a firm grasp on their history and culture, are now under assault from immigrants who don't want to be French, or Dutch, or German, but, instead, want France or Netherlands or Germany to be what they are! And, in most cases, that is Muslim!

Thinking US citizens do need to worry over Europe (re pietas), although I don't know what a person is supposed to do when his stock pines for self destruction.

Despite the fact that liberals hate the United States and yearn for her collapse, the time is coming (sooner rather than later) when a deperate world looks to the Unites States once again to save it. Even US liberals will despair if the US isn't up to the challenge. As the last major dictatorship emerges in China, a whole new cold war will need to be joined. In Europe, an Islamic France is a terror to behold. Here you have a nation with nukes and ICBMs rushing headlong to be a stalwart in favor of Islamic expansion.

I don't know how you stop the Islamists in such a case, but as Charleton Heston once said in 55 Days at Peking, "We'd better stop them with something."

Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah......

It's far simpler than that. Women have control over the number of children they have for the first time in history. It turns out that given the choice, most don't want to go through more than one or two pregnancies in their life, and many don't want even that.

I think that may change in time as women come to realize that one or two children are not enough to ensure they are cared for in their old age. Stories of mistreatment of old people will become common as baby boomer's begin to hit 70+ years of age. Their selfish and narcissistic lifestyle will come back and bite them in the butt. It would be funny that they will have to rely on care from the children of third world emigrants, if it weren't so sad.

I think the lessons will be clear for their children and grandchildren though. Have kids, the more the better!

It appears the U.S. will face the same fate:

Denial of religion in our culture.

Low native birth rates. By contrast, other posts today point out the illegal/hispanic birth rate is at 50%. It doesn't take a calculator to figure out what that means for future demographics.

Unchecked immigration, plus see above.

Very brilliant article.

The problem with the failure of Europe is also that we are not far behind in terms of Christianophia, secularism and Islamic immigration. While there are 20 million muslims in Europe, the US is seeing an increasingly higher number as well.

Excellent article.

The first involves pietas, an ancient Roman virtue that teaches us reverence and gratitude for those on whose shoulders we stand. A lot of what has crossed the Atlantic in the past several centuries has been improved in the process, from the English language to the forms of constitutional democracy. Yet pietas demands that Americans remember where those good things came from. A United States indifferent to the fate of Europe is a United States indifferent to its roots.

I'm sure this makes some Freepers uncomfortable and thats a shame.

He develops these ideas in his latest book; I think it's called "The Cube and the Cathedral."

It is indeed a brilliant analysis. I note that his book "Witness to Hope" was translated into many languages, but not French.
